HM room / air freshener / deodoriser

ive stopped buying the expensive plug ins etc to fragrance the house

so what can i use instead?

i already to the essential oil on lightbulbs / on cotton wool behind radiator / in the hoover tricks

and i use lil bowls of bicarb under sink and in fridge etc

im not using shop bought lemon / orange sprays to clean anymore (which smell luuuurvely !)
can i use essential oils in my vinegar / water spray ?? and what about adding to the hot water / vinegar for damp dusting ?

any other ideas would be appreciated :D

Some of the very first threads in the cleaning section of the MEGA Index are about air freshening, and others are listed in the Save Zillions on Cleaning Index.

I use an oil burner and can then change the oils depending on my mood (lemon makes the house smell as if it has just been cleaned - even when it hasn't).

lol, no pets or smoke, I don't think we have smelly feet. Maybe thats why we don't have many visitors lol

No only joking, thinking about it, I have on occasion (sp) used one of those oil burner thingies. Just didn't think of those at the time. I love the lavender oil.

I have some what body sprays that are suppose to be made up of Essential oils. I give them a waft around if someone is coming.

Other wise nothing. As I have a habit even in the middle of winter on a nice sunny day to open all the windows open wide and and air the house out.

But we don't smoke and have no pets.

The reason that little pagan spiritual shops smell so gorgeous, even when they aren't burning incense, is because when they do it makes everything in the room smell nice for quite some time after. After inquiring about this, I was told to get several incense sticks and light them all at the same time in one room, stick them in incense holders, plant pots, vases etc. then close the doors and windows and leave the room for an hour. After a while go back in and it would smell like that for quite some time after.

Since then I've also learnt that using this technique with "Nag Champa" incense is good at removing that lingering smell of cat territory spraying and often stops them from respraying.

Well as winter4 approaches my windows shut and I want to know if anyone has any ideas for OS house smellies. I used to use those plug in thingies but they cost a bomb and my new OS self wont let me spend 3quid on pong anymore.

Now normally I leave the windows open and this helps but once central heating comes on I hate the idea of all that heat just disappearing. I'm out of the house all day so plan on leaving the window open until I get home - but even this wont give my house a nice smell.

I smoke but don't have pets and I like walking in a house where there is a noticable nice pong - any OS ideas for generating some luscious smells to keep me happy?

    Cheers, Nix xx

essentials oils dabbed into light bulbs smell nice when the light is switched on. Obviously this will only start when you get home and switch the light on. You can also mix up your own room spray with essential oils and spritz them around.
