Thanks for the replies so far.

It could well be that I am getting used to the smell, so thanks for that suggestion.

And no, I've not tried the lamp ring thingy, where do I get one from?

    Thanks!

  • I have a dog, we use the glade plug ins during the day and then use an oil burner at night.

The febreze plug ins look good, i love the spiced apple and fresh cotton scents, i'm going to wait until they are on offer somewhere x

    Hi Shelley

I have one of those Febreze ones up stairs in the landing and it really smells lovely! Can't really notice it now mind you, but as someone said could be because it's there every day.

    Hi there

.... and the other thing i can get away with is tucking tumble dryer sheets down the back of the radiators :T ..you get a lovely smell when the heating kicks in -but its not over powering like some air fresheners.
They only last a couple of weeks or so but they are so cheap to buy its not a problem...hope it helps

Well, I read this yesterday and so you can guess what I did this morning! I have radiator cabinets, so was able to get away with draping the sheets over the top of the radiators and putting the cabinets back in place.

I can confirm that the whole house smells great, I only hope it lasts a while! :T :T :T

  • I had problems with the lamp ring things, I think maybe at some point I'd overfilled  them but in any case when I went to take the ring off it had stuck to the bulb and the whole bulb broke which was pretty dangerous. Not saying don't use just saying take care with them....

Your house probably smells lovely anyway you just can't smell it yourself!!

I am always worried my house smells rabbity as we have indoor bunnies with a sshhhhh-litter tray and rabbit wee is really pungent.. lol.. but my mother would tell me if it did.. I tell her when her house smells doggy.. she has 5 dogs you see.

Do you have a friend/family member who would be that honest?

    Hello,

You cna buy reeds and a bottle to make your own designer diffuser and fill it with your choice of smell. Ecover do some but they aren't as cheaper but natural, unlike some of the designer houses that do these and they can cost £30 each!! I bought the bits of ebay but you can buy them as kits. Plus you don't have to use any electricity or worry you left something burning!
Green and minimal chemicals is the new black- I know a fair old bit about sustainability, specially energy and transport stuff. If I can help- please ask!

    Hi all,

I couldn't think of an appropriate title . I like my home to be and smell clean. I have for some time been using Ambipur and the like around the house. I have decided to not to purchase further refills for the plugins etc as they are very expensive.

I am not a fan of scented candles and buying fresh flowers can also add to the cost. What is it that you use around your home? I don't have very nice flowers in the garden and a can of air freshner doesn't really do the trick either. My home is well ventilated and more often than not the windows are kept on the latch to allow fresh air in if we are out or raining. Sometimes the windows are also kept open.

    Hope you can help.

    Thanks.

what about oils in an oil burner? i know you say you dont like scented candles, but you could use only a small amount of oil so that the scent isnt too overwhelming. its far cheaper than scented candles too!! :D or even putting the oils on tissues and putting them on radiators, so that when they are on they will release the scent? xx
