hi all!
I too would like to join the mortgage pig crew. I have been following this thread for a couple of months now and hq you have inspired me to join too! I won't be able to overpay as much as you as I am on a fixed rate until July next year and can only overpay by 20% (which I have been doing for a few months now) but I am aiming to pay a chunk off when I remortgage. I got a pig for my birthday and have decided to call him Morty. My aim is to remortgage for £110,000 next July, I only pay off about £100/ month off the capital from my mortgage at the moment so will need to raise another £1,300 by then. So far Morty has about £30 in him (from my loose change jar)....Saving for an early retirement!0 -
Hi Imelda, the more the merrier! Welcome to morty!
I've listed a few bits and pieces on ebay and amazon, lined up some more work for September - where are all the months going?! So I have a few days of no money coming in but will be putting anything now towards the new month.0 -
Hi all you mortgage piggies
I've now joined the ranks with a piggy named Percy, original huh! However don't laugh because I only set him up today and already he has eaten £3
His message says " Hello my name is Percy and I am always hungry. Please feed me all your silver coins and I will keep them safe for you. You could spend them on... (we've listed our personal wish list)
I am having trouble stopping my children aged 5 & 8 putting all thier coins in! We already have a big glass whiskey bottle for the coppers so I am hoping to build up a larger fund, quicker, with the silvers
Have just got to convince dh that he can save too :rolleyes:MFiT Member No 85

Hi again!
Forgot to say that Percy was already living with us but was starving on top of a wardrobe so he didn't cost a penny :j
Hmmm in true MSE style I suppose I will have to feed him the cost of a new piggy thereby saving me more silver :TMFiT Member No 85

With the pigsback piggies, get your kids if you have them to enter the colouring comp and see if they can win you one!
Genius! I thought the colouring comp prize was a stress pig but I checked it out and you're right (of course!)
great idea especially as we reach the end of the school holidays and we're all a bit tired out!weaving through the chaos...0 -
Thanks phizzimum - i 'spent' 400 points on a pig and DD sent in a colouring in and got one - she must be more mse than me!
She received a certificate first and I thought she hadn't been successful - then about a week later a parcel arrived with a pig, 2 pencils and a post it note block. They are now sitting on her desk, showing off!!
I've just ordered my fifth voucher from there, not bad for spending nothing! £50 in vouchers, we had a lovely meal out, so I'm saving up for another one, so now £20 closer! Its a nice treat to go out for a meal and not think what I could have spent the money on instead!
Welcome to Percy! Hope he develops obesity!0 -
August piggy total £147:D
I'm so pleased. Money to be saved in bank as we have to pay of minimum £500 a time. Onward to September.

LittleWelshRareBit wrote:This is a top idea. We went out looking for our own pig at lunchtime and failed to find one, but then I looked on Pigsback when I got home and discovered I had enough points for a piggy bank through them. So I have ordered piggy and now just have to find the perfect space and perfect name for the new addition to our family......
If anybody is wanting to start their own mortgage pigs, the pink pigs from Pigsback now 'cost' fewer points:

Or get the kids to enter the colouring competetion for a free piggy!

The mortgage papers have been signed and sent off.
The linked current and savings accounts have been applied for on-line and approved in principle.
I am aiming to pay off my mortgage in 10-years rather than 23 and I need an extra £371 per month to do this! I think it is doable. Should I start my own thread?April 2006 - £9790.26dr. DFD - March 20110
