Hello all,
I have just dipped my toe in the water on DFW, and came across this thread with the great idea of the mortgage pig. It's a bit too optimistic for me to have a MP yet, so I'm going to have a debt pig.
In fact, having just bought it off eBay, it is in fact going to be a Cash Cow
I think I'll call him Colin.
What I am going to do is give myself a weekly budget, and anything left from that is going in Colin. At the end of the month, anything in Colin is going to clear the CC, OD or loan."It was not my intention to do this in front of you. For that, I'm sorry. But you can take my word for it, your mother had it comin'."

a silly question to post on this thread...but do you really find it makes a difference having a pig?
At the mo I'm using a jam jar to save in but my good intentions are waning a bit (blame it on the school holidays!) and wondered if having a little piggy might motivate me more?
I've got enough piggy points for one on pigsback but keep finding myself looking at beautiful (and expensive) piggy banks in the shops!weaving through the chaos...0 -
2 things have made a difference to me, 1 is finding this thread, i find posting how im doing, and reading how others are doing and any ideas they may have keeps my mind set, and keeps me from 'straying'. Also, buying the cutest pig (Pork Chop) and having him sat by my computer (yes, he is watching me now!!!) has helped, as i see him all the time, and he just reminds me that he is there, and helping me achieve my dream of paying off my mortgage!!!! He cost me £7.95, but was worth it!!!!!0

Whatever floats your boat!! I think our natural love of animals makes us want to feed them! Wecome to Bernard, Colin and jar!
With the pigsback piggies, get your kids if you have them to enter the colouring comp and see if they can win you one!0 -
With regards to paying in change, I usually had a few problems whether I went to the bank (Natwest) or the building society (Woolwich or West Bromwich)
I have recently closed all these accounts in favour of online banking (best thing I ever did!) and if I need to visit a bank I do it all at the post office, (my actual online account is with the Co-Op but there is not a branch local to me) I have found the staff are great, really helpful and pleasant and I have no problem paying in coin. I bag it all up first, but they just weigh it. No problem, and there are loads of different banks now that allow you to use the PO for counter services.0 -
I bought a pig from the pound shop yesterday. It's very cute, dressed as a burglar, wearing a stripy jumper and sat on some gold money bags, and I'm up to nearly £1 in 5s, 2s, 1s. It says "Penny Pincher" across the bottom LOL.
Remortgage paperwork didn't come yesterday, have to wait until Tuesday now - GRRRApril 2006 - £9790.26dr. DFD - March 20110 -
Hope your paperwork arrives tomorrow monkeylugs. Are you naming your piggy or his he penny pincher - not to be confused with a mse'r of the same name!0

I dont know what to call him. It looks like a boy pig, I think I'll call him..... burglar Bill.
I chased up my paperwork this morning, I did have a couple of questions to ask so thought I would make sure the paperwork had gone out, and they said it was posted Friday, so hopefully tomorrow or Wednesday. I keep finding the odd bit of loose change here and there so BB clinks nicely when I pick him up and shake him.April 2006 - £9790.26dr. DFD - March 20110
