what do you want to pay off most with doris' help?0
-
hiya HQ......basically just our debt!! i cant be more specific as its just one loan(but a bloody huge one!!) as we consolidated about 18 months ago.we cant over pay but we can pay off early with no penalty.
we have a target though.....snowball says november 2011 but our target is december 2009.
we will be eligible to buy our house as of january 2010....so our main aim is to be debt free so we can get a mortgage as soon as we are eligible.0 -
Well I guess for a start you could call her snowball!!!
If you can't think of anything at all to put there, put up a calculation of what overpayments would save you in interest and how much quicker you could pay it off. If you can work out how much graduations of £10 or £20 a month or more would save in time/interest write them on there and how much you have paid off each month, thats basically what I have done so far and it seems to be working!0 -

Love this thread and aliasojo - congrats on simple but brilliant idea:T Tou are a great inspiration.
Now in my quest to find my very own Herman I stumbled across a US site that sells big and jumbo pigs, red hat pigs, beauty pigs everything you could wish for piggy bank wise. They are all so cute... I have a deep fear that I am now going to want to collect them !
Got my eye on a couple on ebay but in true DFW style I think the charity shops will get my money as I just can't paper mache!

What makes me laugh is some of the names you lot give your pigs/chickens/other assorted beasties.....they're brilliant. :rotfl: Has anyone else noticed how (for the most part) all the names are kinda sensible. (Herman........Doris......etc?) I think that's because subconciously we think sensible names are the most beneficial type to link to our hard earned cash.
I don't think I'd have been happy donating all my pennies to a Zach, Dweezil or Zebidee. (Apologies to any offended Zachs, Dweezils or Zebidees out there. :rotfl: I'd be imagining all my funds going up in smokeYeah man!
As for the speech bubble thing.......try to think of what you spend money on that is frivilous or not needed. Doesn't have to be anything big, if you regularly buy a can of coke every day for instance, that adds up come the end of the week. Doing without it would help your teeth, your waistline and your pig.
I change my bubble from time to time depending on what mood I'm in. My current one says ....'OI......YOU! NOOOOOOOO! (with a picture of a bottle of coke and a bar of cadburys under it as I'm on a wee bit of a roll with them just now:rolleyes: ).
I'm about to change it though as OH seems to think now that our mortgage is paid off, that means he can have more cash for XBOX games. Ehhhhh......noooo, we still have cc's to pay off remember?! So Herman's new speech bubble will say something about how 2 x xbox games is equal to one months payment for one of our cards and how it would be much better playing games when he's debt free.
The object is to make you focus more on things that you do without thinking so that you can decide whether you really do want/need it or whether you think ....'ok...I don't really need to do this, but since I was going to do it....piggy can have the money instead.Herman - MP for all!0 -
Every time i talk about pigsy and how much its saving I get the jokey 'I don't know' done in a piggy oinky voice - thanks to that comedian - its a cracker!0
