Ima Hoot, my mortgage owl is filling up nicely. But he's already had a fiver taken out of him for the window cleaner.

However, I have had a blue pot penny bank for a couple of years that I've been putting the odd pound and 2 pound coin in. I finally smashed it a couple of days ago and there was nearly £200 in it. I now have some really nice summer clothes and very pretty red gingham ribbon sandals. (Made out of gingham ribbon, I haven't named them after my user name or anything...)

Anyway, the point I'm making (badly) is that there wasn't a hole in it to get the money out. I had to smash it. Which I think is why there was so much money in it. I couldn't just take it out when I suddenly needed something. Ima is doing great, but I might look out for one that I have to smash to get into.
May all your dots fall silently to the ground.

Ive got a really old one like that too (its a teramundi pot i got given). Apparently you are meant to re-cycle the bits by using them in plant pots etc.

I know what you mean though, the temptation to borrow is removed!

You could get one of those tins that are about a £1 that you have to use a can opener to get into once its full!

I must say, the postage on ebay is rather expensive! And most of the sellers don't send the items registered or even recorded...but that's a matter of another thread...
Was a nice little pig though...

For anyone living in the North Somerset area..... Proper Job has plastic pig money boxes (exactly the same as pigsback ones) for £1 each.

    Well worth it!

I have about £60 in my mortgage pig now - haven't even exchanged contracts on the house yet!

EDIT - just remembered that Bristol now has a 'Proper Job' too, its in Brislington somewhere.
    2012 wins approx £11,000 including 5k to spend on a holiday :j
