This is such a fab idea. I'm sorry that I've only just found it. OH will be told about our next new moneysaving regime. We don't have a mortgage yet, but we want one (ok, we don't want to be in loads of debt but we do want to buy a house!).

Now I just need to find something that will fit the bill for moneysaving. :) Fab post aliasojo!

  • Paid £810 off my mortgage today, woohoo!
Still got my usual £9.05 overpayment and hopefully will need to empty piggy at the end of the month!
So between last month and this thats nearly £1000 that I don't have to pay interest on!

I found in a tidy up over the weekend a money pot which i had collected change in 5 years ago when in halls, we moved house and it got re-located and i had no idea i had it until Sunday. What a nice surprise!!! Bummer is you have to break it to get the money out, so i'm waiting till its full then we are having a smashing time and putting it all in our saving fund for the morgage! (apparently the next use for it is to line the bottom of pots for when we plant out next)

What money do you put into pig?

Loose change, decide not to have a takeaway-put money in?

I have a pig and was using it to save loose change towards a holiday, holiday is now paid for, so need a new use for pig!

    Thanks

    Hiya

I am sooo excited as my mum has just bought me a 'mortgage chicken' as a moving in present. I was in Woolies looking at easter egss and they have these lovely china chicken money boxes reduced to £3.99 so she has bought it for me as a moving present. I'm a FTB and thanks to aliasjo I want to start as I mean to carry on.

My brother thought I was sad as I got so excited but I don't care! :j

Even more of a reason to look forward to the house move now.

As I've discovered I often waste money on snacks at work I might get myself a 'mortgage' purse. Then whenever I'm tempted to waste money I could instead put it in that purse, I then won't be able to spend the money, so saving money and my waistline :D

Thanks :) Having a chicken to look forward to feeding makes me strangely feel more in control of all this house buying lark!
