Can I join the club, please?

I have two money pigs - am keeping one in work to collect any savings I can make by avoiding the canteen and chocolate machines!!

To start with, they are helping to pay off credit cards, but the mortgage will be next!!

I've just ordered myself a pink pig off pigsback.com, so I'm going to join in if thats ok?
We don't actually use alot of cash so I'm not sure how its going to work, but we'll give it a go.
We may be buying a bigger house ( have put in an offer, just waiting to hear back!) which comes with a MUCH bigger mortgage, so will need all the help we can get!

Got my 'paint your own pig' all beautifully decorated..with DD's help..he has today's date and 'mortgage pig' emblazoned on his side too.

    However....

the plastic stopper doesn't fit his hole! it just falls out at the first penny and money lands straight on the floor! Oh dear.

Gonna have to take him back to the shop now and explain..hope they give me a new pig to re-paint..don't know what they're going to make of his labelling!!

Oh what a shame. Never mind, you'll get to decorate all over again, lol.

Incidentally I have a LARGE piece of brown parcel tape stuck over Herman's stopper with the words 'Don't even THINK about it' written on it with a cd marker pen. :D

    Hi from Maisie

Thanks for calling me 'cute' !!!!!!!

I've got a 'chukkie' money box from the children's cartoon series. (can't remember the name of the programme!)

Has bright ginger spiked up hair and a big slot on top of his head.
I got him from a car boot sale for a pound and someone told me he is now a 'collectable'. Anyway he collects odd change for me.

Great idea Aliasjo and congrats on 'post of the month'. Well done.

well done on winning Aliasojo - I will join the ranks of those inspired.

I actually started saving three weeks ago when I moved to a new job about 2 miles from my house and discovered I would be charged the full bus fare each way for this mammoth journey. This is £1.60 each way so £16.00 per week (or £832 per year!!!). I was so disgusted I decided to set aside £16 in change each Monday in a separate purse and whatever was left in that wee purse at the end of the week would represent the number of times I had walked rather than bussed. With over 5 stone to lose in weight I am seeking to gains ££s and lose LBs at the same time. So far have saved £11.20 in first week, £12.80 in second week and £14.40 last week! Still have not put in the perfect £16 but will get there yet. Think I have lost about 5lbs too so working on both fronts.
Money currently in old coffee jar but think a piggy or other lovable rogue would be much more appealing. Current aim is not mortgage but xmas - would so love to have xmas without any need for plastic at all! Am saving all piggypoints, ciao points, boots card ponts etc with same aim.

Thanks for inspiration - coffee jars days are numbered!

All I have to say is WELL DONE! That is SO great! :T
    :love:Baby Bump born 4th March 2010! :kisses:
  • Have cancelled a direct debit for £8 a month for tv channels we don't watch now anyway. After seeing that £9.05 a month was going to save 3 months and over £700 I can now double that nearly!
    Here piggy, piggy, piggy!
