How do you currently make your mortgage payments? If it's by direct debit, ask your bank to increase the monthly payment, and ask your lender not to reduce payments if interest rates go down. Alternatively, speak to your lender, and ask if you can make a lump sum payment from time to time. :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:
Best to double check with your lender that there are no penalties for overpayments. Abbey, for instance, allow maximum 10% overpayment of remaining balance each year. Otherwise, penalties apply.:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0 -
I have a fixed mortgage and they also let you pay up to 10% per year without penalty (Nationwide).0

I am with Northern Rock, I was told when I took out the mortgage I could overpay but I never did so I don't know how to do it.
This sounds like a fab idea though, I'm going ask for a chicken money box for Easter instead of an egg, so the pounds can go in there and not on my hips!
My bank (abbey) will only let you change 3 bags a day0 -
Did somebody mention shoes?:D
Congrats on winning Post of the Month xxSometimes it's important to work for that pot of gold...But other times it's essential to take time off and to make sure that your most important decision in the day simply consists of choosing which color to slide down on the rainbow...0 -

I just paid in 5 bags into Abbey. They don't usually care if it's not too busy. I just think that rule is totally insane! It's money, and they are a bank! It really shouldnt matter if it takes all day to count someone 1000 bags of 1ps, it is ridiculous!
Last one I saw that was equally as good, was in Halifax. Apparently, you cannot withdraw less than £300 at the counter????? So your not allowed to get your money!!! You can use the ATM, and if thats not working, go somewhere else!0 -
