They can only carry out the sweep if they can get in there but that won't stop them from getting in there in the first place to do a VE.

According to what I was told today we should now be offered a sweep a few days after 40 weeks and then again if it didnt work, my mw was bemused that I hadnt already had one given I'm 41+1.

Ok not sure what details you want so Il be thorough. MW asked me to get a towel just in case and to completely remove my trousers and underpops. I usually have a pantyliner on these days so took that out when I got the towel so I could 'disrobe' in front of her rather than walk back in semi-starkers :rotfl:

Put the towel on the couch and took my joggers and knics off then led down with my knees up. MW knelt in floor next to me and brought my knee toward her. She didnt really look down there as such but did warn me that her her now gloved and lubed hand would be cold.

Heres the shock - to me anyway - once she was finger(s?) in she pushed her hand up quite hard, so much so, that her remaining fingers/fist was pushing incredibley hard against my perenium and that was the first bit to hurt. It seemed to be that she couldn't quite reach 'cos she asked me to bring my knees up towards me and was pushing even harder, once she seemed to get there she said oh good you seem to be 1cm dialated and was apologising profusely as she kept 'digging'.

She dug around very deeply without stopping or even pausing and I had to breathe harder than ever before to try just to stay still, my cervix is apparently posterior and she tried to move it forward :eek: Once finished she said she was really sorry again but that I did great and that I would def have to use a pad because there was already blood on her glove.

I joked around that it was probably a horrible for her too and she agreed but said 2nd to doing heel !!!!! tests and told me that next time it wouldnt hurt as much because it would be easier to reach.

Not sure if Ive missed anything but she could tell it hust as kept reassuring me that I was doing well and reminding me to breathe!! Since then it has been very uncomfatable and Ive had a but of brown and red blood, only a spot on a pad but wiped 3 times after a wee and had bright red blood each time, she basically told me that unless I soak a pad that it would be normal to have a show and some bleeding.

Hope I havent grossed anyone out too much and I'm sure it won't hurt half as much for others but I was very surprised jut how bad it was, not at all embaressing though for the timid of you.

ETA oh and while in there she said she could feel baby's head despite only writing me up as 4/5ths

I feel terrible, also wear a lot of dresses, and bought a preg band at the weekend for exercise, can you feel your baby sure I've had twinges x

MM bubs keeps wriggling and i get random scratchy feelings in my foof doing my head in .. between my (.)(.) feels bruised you know where the bra bit goes in the middle of them ... feels like ive been punched x

Just in case anyone is now panicing at the thought of a sweep. everyone is different, mine was easy and although a little uncomfortable it caused no pain and she certainly didn't go in deep. Thought I'd add a little reassurance as poor Candice seems to have had a tricky one, hope your feeling ok. XXX

Thanks Tara, I hope you all read that sentiment in my post too, it probably wont be anything like that for others but anything less will be a walk in the park for you guys.
