One of my cheapy meals is...
Corned beef, mashed in with mashed potato, that's been cooked with onion and garlic. add a dash of worcestershire sauce. Put it all into a casserole, sprinkle the top with bread crumbs, you can also put sliced tomato on the top and or fried bacon bits. Bake in the oven on a no. 7 for about 15 mins, until top is crispy. You can also top with grated cheese.. I usually only use bread crumbs as a topping, and tomatoes if I have them. It is a very cheap meal though. Also another cheap meal along the same theme as the corned beef one is cheese and potato pie. Using cheese in place of corned beef, and topping with grated chees and bread crumbs. I serve these meals with baked beans.0 -
One of my cheap favorites is bean burgers. Take a tin of beans (usually use kidney beans, but can also use baked beans). Tip them into a sieve and wash off the liquid/tomato sauce. Put them in a bowl, add spices, herbs or curry powder of your choice, a bit of salt and pepper. Blend or mash until smooth. If the mixture is sloppy add breadcrumbs until you get a stiff paste. Form into patties, oven cook or shallow fry until warm through. You can also add finely chopped onions and veg to them or put a cube of cheese in the middle so it melts when you cook them.:staradmin:starmod: beware of geeks bearing .gifs...:starmod::staradmin:starmod: Whoever said "nothing is impossible" obviously never tried to nail jelly to a tree :starmod:0

Well I made the onion and bacon pie on saturday night and it was yummy (best shortcrust I've ever made!). Lovely boiled Desiree potatoes with some salad cream on and peas to accompany it. Bliss!!!!
Cheap as chips!0 -
well, its not especially nutritious, but when i was travelling and had my bank card stolen, and we had to really make do with what we had in our fridge already, me and a friend lived on cooked pasta with a sauce made of tomato sauce, mustard, mayo and garlic sauce (kind of like purree but thinner) with a fried egg. fortunately we had a mango tree in the garden for our vitamin C. i lost a few pounds, but felt totally fine the entire two or three weeks we did that. (with the occaisional meal bought by impressionable young men!!)....I'd rather have two minutes of wonderful, than a lifetime of nothing special....0
