hehe, having big probs with a store near me

a 'thing' is priced at nearly £120, an introductory offer

there's a leaflet in store, and huge posters saying 10% off all 'things'

it didnt scan through at 10% off, it scanned at full price

the manager is now saying that its illegal for them to advertise a previous price if it hasn't been sold before, but the 'thing' is already at 10% off even there tho there isn't a previous price crossed out

my argument is, the SEL is clearly £120, i should have had 10% off that

manager says NO, it includes 10%

    advice?
    money saving my @rse.
I've spent 10x as much as I would if I had never discovered this website :-)

If were thinking of the same 'things' then all promotional material clearly states "Reduced Prices as Shown".

Okies maybe I'm having a dense moment but whats wrong with RFID? (You mean Radio frequency ID tags right?)

Going back to RFID, the technology is brilliant, the things it is capable of are amazing BUT (and its a big one) its going to make a lot of people redundant at alot of levels of various companies.....think automatic stock control, automatic labelling, self scanning checkouts (not the self scans we have now) and so on.

Its a scary time for any forward looking retail employee.....not just supermarkets but all retail establishments.

Actually its quite scary,i had never heard of RDIF until this thread.According to what ive just read, the tags are not switched off till you dispose of the packaging & thats a quote from a Tesco spokesman....

having read the link, the article is from nearly 3 years ago and to be fair, the speed that the technology moves at is rather rapid and most of the information is probably out of date by now.

They also have the right to use reasonable force to remove you from their property. They can call the police to remove you without giving a reason. Trespass is a civil offence, by the way..

Whereas they can ban you from the property and refuse to serve you they cannot use force to remove you from the store. They have to call the police and get them to do it or it is assault.

    Wrong.

According to a policeman I spoke to just two days ago, Tesco is fully entitled to use reasonable force to remove someone from their stores, as it is private property. They do not need to call the police to remove someone. It's only assault if the force used is unreasonable. Ask yourself a question: why do you think doormen are allowed to remove people from pubs and nightclubs as long as they use reasonable force? You'll only see a doorman being prosecuted for assault if the force he used was unreasonable. As it is, Tesco will call the police to remove someone, rather than remove that person themselves. This is to protect Tesco's public image and staff.

You'll find they are covered if they use reasonable force to remove someone in order to protect their property, themselves or another person, or to prevent a crime.
