Mrs Optimist, you have hit the nail right on the head!! Alot of posters dont seem to realise that in no way will Tesco allow profits to fall. This means that the more stuff that is given away free, the more prices will rise. In the long run no one is going to benefit except the Tesco shareholders as they will be charging higher prices....
Of course, lots of people dont see it that way, they just see the £££ signs and free stuff.....Fight Poverty - Hit a tramp!

If tesco put more money into stock control it wouldnt make a jot of difference....stock control have nothing to do with the prices or pricing.Fight Poverty - Hit a tramp!

So are you saying the girls/lads on the tills put the prices on the shelves???Ask me no questions, and I'll tell you no lies0 -
The big worry is the fact that Tesco are increasing profits whilst decreasing prices. This is nice for consumers in the short term but the squeeze on staff and suppliers can only lead to long-term misery.
I don't care if I pay 98p or 95p for a bag of peas. But the 3p difference could be life or death to the farmer who supplies them. Can I help?0 -

I agree entirely but do you honestly think that if we paid higher amounts for our goods tesco would be happy to keep their profit margin as it is and pass the difference to suppliers!!!Ask me no questions, and I'll tell you no lies0 -

Which is exactly why the competition commision are yet again doing a review into the supermarket industry. It is a typical british trait that if someone/thing is doing well then they should be knocked down until something goes wrong....it happens in sport, business and just about every walk of life. Its a shame but the way it is. Tesco actually does quite a bit in the name or corporate responsibility, not much is heard about it or promoted simply because its easier to knock a company than praise the good that they do. This may sound like a Tesco employee preaching but the same could be said of any large company in this country.stebiz wrote:So are you saying the girls/lads on the tills put the prices on the shelves???
nope...but neither do stock control.Fight Poverty - Hit a tramp!

also not wishing to argue...i am a price integrity team leader in one of the larger extra stores and used to be a fresh food stock controller. The jobs are entirely different and the only thing that links them is that they usually work from the same office. Price integrity have no control over stock whatsoever and stock control have nothing at all to do with prices or pricing.Fight Poverty - Hit a tramp!
