AaronDH wrote:Please name and shame this Tesco, and the staff. This is truely discusting behaviour and I would hope that HO will deal with this, as others have suggested write a letter, send it via secure delivery to one of the heads at HO.
Whilst I totally agree the racist comments are bang out or order.....
The Dude thinks you need to learn a lesson - multiple purchases of a high value item will get the manager's back up.
Each to their own, but I think you may have had less problems of you bought a single microwave......
But like I said - I sympathise with the poor treatment - I've been there too (without the racism)....

So when i make multiple purchases of a low value item and am overcharged i get accussed of doing it on purpose. I bulk buy everything, i mean should i only but no more than two of everything i am shopping for on the off chance that they may over charge me and then take offence. aaaggghhh.
Tesco make me so mad. if they are gonna have low prices for stuff advertised then your gonna take advantage of the offers (i mean take advantage of the money saving and stock up the cupboards and pay with reAL MONEY NOT R+R)
More than one high value electric item could be considered excessive but stuff like microwaves i would say 2 max cos if theyre cheap you could be buying them for your kids etc wedding pressie or replacing your own. If tesco spent less time being rude to customers who they are breaking the law by overcharging and more time doing their job, ie ensuring correct prices were charged then there would be no issue.
We save tescos thousands of pounds in potential fines from trading standards by bringing overcharges to their attention. They should change the policy if they don't like it.Or and this is never gonna happen, retrain the staff so they can learn to do their job properly. ggrrr
This is just a generalisation and i am venting my frustration. I am very aware that not all tescos employees are muppets, the odd one gives tescos a bad name. I have come accross some very nice and helpful lovely people along the way. Perhaps said people could teach the others. If only

Oh Great Joy. I will have to rename myself Tigger, 'cos I feel so happy I could bounce !! :j :j :j :j
FIRST EVER R&R !!!!!!!
How anyone can keep a great big grin off their face when they get several r&r in one shop, esp the more expensive items, I don't know
After telling you all of my earlier attempt, thwarted when the sa removed the SEL, I had nearly given up. But thanks to all you guys I decided "Nil Desperandum" !!
Checked out some of the mis-prices posted on the threads here, and kept my eyes peeled. Low and behold I bought a computer game which I had high hopes had the wrong SEL on display. I dare not scan it in store in case they sussed me out ( remember I am a nervous beginner at this )
I nearly applauded when it scanned higher at the tills.:T
Made no mistake this time, had 3 members of staff view the offending SEL in situ, before I even approached the cs.
She tried the approach of apologising and offering to refund the difference, but again being educated by you professionals, I merely looked puzzled and said "But I thought Tesco did Refund and Replacement", and she quickly refunded my card, and handed me the game.
Although feeling euphoric, also warey of pushing my luck, so will try another Tesco, or the same one on a diff day/time so hopefully have different staff.
Daren't explain to the kids how I managed to get a free game, they will end up shouting out down the aisle "Shall we try an R&R on this ?" when they see a new game or dvd they want.
Needless to say a great big THANK YOU to all you guys for the help, advice and encouragement. Hopefully it won't be too long before I am reporting back with more successes. :T :T :T :T0 -

Cool.
When I take my daughter on a Tesco hunt with me, I remind her not to say "the 'f' word" when I'm shopping.....

Yup. You're hooked...:rotfl:0 -
Meh.... I would do R&R, but i dont have a local Tesco. Also at my local Asda they reduce meat to 10p about 7.30pm. Last week i brought £122 of meat for £3.20. Pot Roast, Salmon Fillets, Sirloin Steak all 10p each. Thats just easier then running about spending hours looking for something which is overpriced - then argueing with CS for 20 mins. Obviously if you get something like a Playstation or XBOX, thats cool. But some people seem to do it for 50p crackers, which they dont even like - just because its free.A bargain is only a bargain if you would have brought it anyway!0

Has any body else noticed that there seem to be a lot fewer mis-prices atm? Maybe Tesco are cracking down? The main thing is to keep the main thing the main thing:)0

:j Thanks to the Tesco misprices threads I too got my first r&rs this week! All items suggested by you lot, so thanks!!
Now have free Coca-cola (4 bottles), free finest Gammon joint and also got r&r on some reduced turkey where the original barcode had not been covered up (wonder why I picked that pack up?!!).:T
Thanks for the info everyone!
V. happy with Mr T this week! Making a point of picking up 2 copies of the Tesco magazine every day, for the (non-specific) 40p coupon at the back, to add to the wedge of manufacturers' coupons I keep in the car.
I also got £37 in clubcard vouchers after only 6 weeks of mega-point-shopping (started mid-March, points counted till end of April). I have already got as many points again in May alone so far...and than there's the car insurance/mot/service due in June which will bump the points up more!
People think I'm mad when I pick up old receipts outside, looking for non-clubcard use but who cares? ('every little helps'). Hoping that next year's holiday might be somewhere more exotic than the usual caravan parks we take the kids to! :TPRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

Have read this thread with great interest - it is clear that some pepple exploit the system, mkaing it more likely that tesco will crack down, making it impossible for anyone to get r&r. However the argument that you are doing a service to the public and are annoyed with Tesco doesn't ring true - if it annoys you that much why don't you shop elsewhere? I have had several instances of being overcharged, on a tv and dvd combi for example - I was only interested in obtaining a refund of the overcharge, it was a birthday present for my daughter and it would not have felt right giving her a birthday present that cost me nothing. There is one thing that motivates a lot (not all) posters to this thread - greed, pure and simple. And turning to the microwave incident, I agree that the racist abuse was well out of order, but I get the general impression that you have made a regular habit of doing what you do and to buy 2 microwaves, which you wouldn't have bought unless you knew there was the possibility of r&r (and dont try and tell me you were going to buy 2 microwaves anyway - I simply do not believe you) was just greedy - plain and simple. And how do you think Tesco makes up the shortfall for all these free goods they have been dishing out? It certainly hasn't eaten into their profits, it comes out of wage increases for their staff (including cs staff, who are working to live, not the other way round) and higher prices for everyone, so are you really getting that good a deal if you are having to pay more for everyday items ? Look at the bigger picture.0

I've been reading through this thread and it has raised a few points.
Are we not all guilty of being greedy at times?? Okay the lady got 2 microwaves - another got £120 worth of cheap 10p stuff at Asda, others bring 2000 ciggies home from Spain. We are all greedy by nature. Sometimes it comes back to us and stings us on the b*m.
When this R&R policy came out I went to my local tescos and got some free cheese, beer, meat etc but then the friendly supervisor became less friendly. At one stage I was threatened with a cctv camera when I was in store. It wasn't worth the hassle. I didn't want to be banned. I now shop elsewhere - mainly online getting my points - but I didn't want to risk being banned. That would mean me travelling too far in case I needed to nip out for something.
If I do R&R it is elsewhere now. So if I get banned I'm not bothered. However it must also be noted that if Tesco put more money into stock control this would never happen anyway. And think of all those poor people who buy meet and microwaves which they think are cheaper than what they really are.
