Today is change over on the offers, the card must have been mistakenly put out... The problem is that the cards are dated and had it of been there it should have said 17/05/06 (tommorow) - xx/xx/xx... Obviously people don't study the small print and shouldn't be expected to, that's why they would have been removed till tommorow.0

I was sooo glad to read your post Little John, you have made me believe I'm not going mad after all.
Having read this thread with growing interest for the past few weeks I was thrilled when a couple of weeks ago I spotted a DVD which someone had mentioned on MSE. I read the SEL carefully, popped it in my basket, did a bit more 'normal' shopping and managed to scan it at the opposite end of the store, and Oh Great Joy, Higher price than the SEL. I even pottered back to the DVD's to double check that I had got exactly the dvd which matched the SEL. I checked the title word for word so there could be no possible mistake.
I paid for my shopping and presented myself at cs, excited at the thought of my FIRST EVER R&R !!!!!!:rotfl:
sa1 disappeared with the DVD to check the racking, whilst I waited with growing anticipation with sa2 and the receipt. After quite a while sa1 returns to say no, that I have looked at the wrong label. When I went to check out what she had said, SEL for DVD I had bought had DISAPPEARED, and ticket from another DVD had been slid across so it now sat underneath the remaining ones.
"You were looking at the wrong ticket" she smirked, "somebody must have put this in the wrong place".
So presumably from now on when/if ever I have an 'overcharge' I will have to accompany the sa so the 'evidence' is not removed !!!!!
Is this normal Tesco practise ??0 -
From the overwhelming number of reports of the same thing exactly, I think we can say it is very common practice at Tesco Customer Services. I ALWAYS accompany the CS staff to "show them what I mean".0
-
I always offer to accompany cs to shelf. There's about a 50/50 split with cs saying ok, or "no, you needn't bother", but I always do anyway.
My main worry is that one day, even though I've asked other cs at desk to watch my shopping, someone will pinch it from my trolley while I'm away!some people grin and bear it, others smile and do it0 -
Best bet is to find a SA on the shop floor, after paying for shopping, and point out overcharge. They will often then sort out the R&R with CS for you, saves CS the effort of going and looking for SEL and reduces the chance of them removing the evidence. Better still if you ask a supervisor or manager to check the SEL for you, CS won't say that they are looking at the wrong ticket.0

What on Earth is going on ?
I was in Tesco Today with My husband, Mother & Daughter I must stress We are an honest family & need some advice please Help us !
My husband was born in a foreign country & has brown skin ( you will see the reason why I have wrote this later in this post ! )
We have recently had some r & rs on cds & dvds ( not many though ) So After reading the posts on here that an overcharge is illegal & you can be eligible for your money back & the product so what the heck I tried it, as this has happened to us many times we were overcharged the odd couple of pence but we never ever mentioned it !
Anyway the cds & stuff we got were rubbish but they were free so we tried it anyway to cut a long story short. ( No problems ) All went ok !
Until today, I saw a post last night saying the microwaves ( panasonic ) were priced at £59.93 & people were getting charged £69.93
So once again I Tried it, I put a microwave in my trolley & 1 for my mum for luck bought some clothes & some bread & went to the check out ( we were charged the higher amount ! )
So off we went to the customer service desk, saw the woman who looked at us very strangely, ( Like she knew we were going to do it ) I said come with me I will show you the price on the shelf she just walked away in a different direction but I went to check it anyway GUESS WHAT ? IT WAS GONE ! ! ( No price at all !
So my husband went to check again to see what they had done with the old label while I was waiting for a manager ( TO HIS SURPRISE ) There was another label on saying £69.93 !
Hubby asked what is going on here ( there was 5 managers in a group at the microwaves discussing what to do ) They replied what ? Hubby saId I am the husband of the lady at the customer service desk & these prices are changing ! They said to him " SO " " WE CAN CHANGE THEM IF WE WANT " Hubby said NO YOU CAN'T!!!!!!!
Anyway the Manager said to my husband we watched you on the CCTV Days ago buying a suitcase & getting a refund " WHICH WAS COMPLETELY UNTRUE ! " ( He lied )
" My husband said we have never had a refund on a suitcase "
We did buy a suitcase but we got a refund on a cd, It was certainly not a suitcase !
Anyway hubby by this time was heading back to me with the managers I had just been on the phone to head office they told me I was due to a refund, but this manager looked at me with his eyes popping out of his head & said you are NOT getting these items FREE OKKKKKK !
I Was horrified ! I almost fell to the floor ! My husband asked him to tell me what he had said about the suitcase & he said YOU NEED TO LEARN SOME ENGLISH TOO DON'T YOU POINTING HIS FINGER ALMOST IN MY HUSBANDS FACE !!!!!!!!!!!! IN A TOTALLY ANGRY MANNER !!!
Oh My word I felt terrible I told him you are a racist & that is filthy & disgusting behaviour from a manager all because we had found an item incorrectly priced ! He said you are Banned from Tesco !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I said don't worry I will not come in, but thinking about it how can he stop us for no reason....... We didn't steal or damage anything we were very polite until he attacked my hubby in a racist manner !
There was around 10 security staff there & an old guy was told would he remove us ......... My daughter 7 years old was terrified !
He offered full refund or the difference in SHOUTING MANNER TAKE THIS DEAL OR LEAVE It but you will never have them free like he was speaking to the crowd who were all looking to see what was going on )
He refunded us full price but no product, We left & I called Head office from outside the store, they arranged for me to collect the microwaves tomorrow but they can't stop the store from banning us they said it is at the stores discression ?????
Is this correct ?
I also told head office whilst in tears everything that had happened but she said she could do nothing, & regarding the racism the Manager said he never said anything, But the security cameras would say otherwise.......
Please tell us what we should do !
Did we do anything illegal ? As I was under the impression this was ok ( even head office
said it is their policy to give you the item for free & why would they give me the item for free otherwise ????
the lady at head office also said the store admited liability to an overcharge so we were within our rights to have their policy......
To be honest I am not bothered at all about this now I prefer my name cleared & an appology to my husband he was shocked to see this racism from a proffesional company "
What should we do now ? Head office admitted they were at fault as they admitted liability on the overcharge, We collect the items tomorrow so it looks like we did nothing wrong but how can the store do this to us stopping us from going in ( ALL I SAID TO THAT MANAGER WAS DON'T YOU DARE BE RACIST TOWARD MY HUSBAND ) ( YOU KNOW we spend hundreds of pounds there & THEY treat us like scum ) ( I'm sure watchdog would love this )
Please HELP !!!!!!
Luv Sha:A Always try to be nice to people no matter how hard they try to push you not to be. :A0 -
On occasions when CS have wanted to go & check, I always say "I'll come & show you" and then I go with them.
Note do not ask is they want you to come with them, because this gives them the chance to say 'no thanks'0 -
Your story is an interesting one and obviously distressing based on the what you - I can sympathise. You might note it’s in the wrong section of the boards, and would be better posted in the Tesco's Refund Policy R&R area and not “Miss-prices only” - I'm sure one of the Mods will move your posting and this reply - to the correct area.
Turning to your posting ..
The behaviour of the staff seams to be totally unacceptable; there are various ways to handle this. In Summary what you have experienced is very - very poor customer service by Tesco's staff, to "read" anything else into the behaviour of the staff “racism” or “prejudice” (which may be correct or otherwise) is going to be hard to prove and probably only go to exubate the anger and upset you and your family feel.
Personally I would deal with is incident by way of a firm, professionally written letter - stating the fact (removing any emotion). Concentrate on the issues that are at the centre of this matter, ie.appalling customer service, un-true statements made by Tescos staff and the humiliation and distress their actions caused. You can later mention that you have been regular and loyal customers and are appalled that this is the way in which your patronage had been dealt with, and then briefly state the r&r policy (at the centre of this matter) and the miss-interpretation the staff at the store made of this.
It’s likely that any professionally written complaint will form the basis of an official investigation of it’s staff by Tescos HO and management, if necessary specific staff re-training on matters such as customer service and R&R policy may be effected. I would also hope to see Tescos apologise to you in writing and a offer a modest gratuity to restore your faith in them as a company.
Others may have differing opinions – but to “get them” for discrimination is going to be almost impossible (I know this personally – as I embarked on a similar discrimination matter with a previous employer), save the personal grief and make a complaint about something you will succeed with.
Good Luck.

Please name and shame this Tesco, and the staff. This is truely discusting behaviour and I would hope that HO will deal with this, as others have suggested write a letter, send it via secure delivery to one of the heads at HO.0
