If you are going to take a photo. surely it would be better to take the photo after you've been overcharged but before you go to CS. Then, if challenged, you could say that you found you had been overcharged and went to check the price and took a photo of it to prove to CS that it was mispriced. Also, if there is a time on the phone for when the photo was taken this would be after the time on your till receipt and it wouldn't then look like you had intent for getting R&R.

Hi, I work on a Tesco Customer Service Desk and can confirm that after each overcharge refund we have to do a report stating why the misprice occurred eg. double scan, wrong SEL, BOGOF not working etc. When it is the "fault" of a cashier then this is logged and printed out by their team leader or checkout manager who then has words......

    Thanks for the info.

Can you clarify - "manager then has words".

Are we talking, aka Life of Brian "Don't do it again" or is it a formal verbal warning, which in industry, would lead to a written warning for a repeat offence.

    Cheers

It would be an informal chat, just to point out the mistake. However, if it was a regular occurrence with someone double scanning items all the time then I'm sure further action would be taken. To be honest, cashier errors are actually quite rare (in my experience) - it's more the incorrect SEL's which cause the problems - as we all know!!

Just been to my local Tesco. Still quite a few misprices on meat (SEL different to pack per KG).

I didn't buy any of it as it wasn't on my shopping list. (I am trying to Live below my means and am dealing with debt).

However I did bring the misprices to the attention of the management.

All of my misprices were noted (though no one went to check the SELs) but apparantly the emphasis tonight was ensuring that the ready meal section (chinese and indian) was laid out in a way that stopped the queues that were developing on the aisles.

It would appear that misprices are not the priority that people would like to think!

I'm shocked that Tesco were tinkering with CD/DVD cases to hide their mistake. Next time that happens to you, and if it ever happens to me, I shall insist on going with them to assist in explaining where it is, what I picked up etc.

RE the price label thing, ALWAYS 'offer' to help the staff and go with them to the shelf where the label is
    money saving my @rse.
I've spent 10x as much as I would if I had never discovered this website :-)

I don't think you can spot a mis-price by looking at the barcode.

But I think there is a way of making sure, for meat, that the barcode on the product matches the barcode on the SEL - last 4 or 6 digits if memory serves.

Personally I've never had a problem matching a product with a SEL based on the description.
