    Just got another R&R in Tesco's (Reading) :j !

    Duran Durans Greatest (2 Disc CD & DVD) - SEL £8.97 - Charged £15.97

The CS guy took the SEL off the shelf so not too sure if it'll be replaced with the correct price or £8.97!

There is a great way of finding out if a store has a scanner or not.

Next time you are in, ask a member of staff ;)

They dont hide them - or deliberatly break them - honest! :D

    LOL

I notice 2 weeks ago that we had a new scanner in our local tescos, to replace the old broken one that had been hanging from the wall for about 6 months ......... went in on monday and noticed it hanging from the wall.

Ours is hidden on a pillar down the isle that no one can get a trolly down!

Probably wore out from over use :D

They tend to be on pillars because it is easier to run the cable across the roof and down than under the floor (pillars are a good place to start if you are looking for one).

Getting them fixed when they break is never easy for some reason

yeah good idea i guess, although last time i asked in a different store 2 SA were unable to tell me as they did not know! that was just after i made a complete div of myself by using the self scanning tills, which i had never encoutered before in my life. I scanned a couple of things, but then the confounded till wanted me to pay for them so i had to try and cancel it out, which after a mere 3-4 minutes of what seemed like ear splitting beeping, did attract the attention of the first SA who was very kindly saying " don't worry about it"... while she pressed about 20 buttons to re-set the till, and the queue behind me stood tapping their feet and rolling their eyes ! talk about showing yersel up! Also the fact that consett seemed to have everything correctly priced - couldn't find anything unpriced to use as an excuse for wanting a scanner !

i did check the pillars - you're right i have found them there on previous occasions. Note for anyone else looking too. i have seen big bulky blue ones, and in the "till disaster " store, teeny tiny red ones - about the size of a calculator (and a small one at that). no wonder i couldn't find them at first - i was looking for huge blue things!

I never have a problem finding a scanner. I just ask a member of staff - they are usually very helpful! I try to ask staff that look like they are school kids with a Saturday job; ones that are least likely to be involved in an R&R dispute.

Whether they are working or not is another matter though

Current promotion (ends 16th April) gives everyone the chance of a Free mobile phone.

Go to a till with a dim looking cashier, spend over £40 on other items, best put your box for the phone near beginning of your pile of shopping on conveyor belt. If cashier forgets to press the correct button-you are on to a winner!

Worked for me this week-top of the range phone-R & R'd no problemo :j
