I had an incident last week (meat again) where by the time i had got seen at cs about an r & r the meat man had been round and amended the sels. (He had just done the one that I wanted r & r on) nice cs lady got the sel from him and did my r & r no problem. She also said to me "next time take the sel off of the shelf and bring it to customer services with you". I did point out that although she and I knew exactly what I was doing I felt that I was probably asking for trouble.
There are some really nice cs people out there but there are some awful ones.
I would not personally reccomend either taking photos of the sel or removing the sel and taking it with you. (anyway they dont always remove them and if you have done their job for them it ruins it for other mse'rs0 -
I was in Tesco last night and noticed that they had xbox 360s in stock. I scanned a premium pack and it scanned at £209 (sb £280). I took the premium box to the till and paid the £209.
When I went to collect the item I was told (after they spent a good 30 mins looking for it) that they didn't have the item in stock and that I'd have to have a refund. I told them that I'd rather wait and come and collect the item when it comes in stock. After a heated discussion I was pretty much forced to take the refund (at this point I'd been in the store for about an hour, most of which had been spent waiting while they tried to find the xbox 360 and it was after 22:00).
What do you think, can the store force a refund like this ? What else could I have done ?0 -
Photo's and things are an extreme, but as a back-up, might prove useful if the situation gets hostile.
For the majority of cases it'll be a case of you pay up at the till, look at your receipt as you walk away and 'discover' the overcharge. Then it's off to the CS to inform them. Most likely the SEL won't have been changed in the time you bought it the time to get o CS.
Point is, tills can't issue refunds, sure, they can change the price at the time 'if you notice' the overcharge, but more often than not you don't get the receipt until you've paid, by which time it's too late for a refund from the till, hence you go of to CS.
So if you're going in purposefully to get an R&R then timing shouldn't be an issue and combined with the SEL being there and your receipt, there should be no argument.
Quite what you do if there's a time lag ... i.e.. you get home and discover the over charge, yet when you get back to the store the SEL has been changed ... not sure. Your word over theirs I guess.Life's too short to grow up ... :j0 -
Oh Xbox 360 ... now that does sound an interesting one.
Can you no pre order things ... or put reserves on things?
Sounds suspicious anyway.Life's too short to grow up ... :j0 -

Its a common thing with these dvd style boxes that advertise larger hardware in tesco. They dont have shelf space for a 360 box or a PS2 box so they put up a little DVD box with the price and description on it.
So if you pay at the till then they send you to the CS desk for the item. If they dont have it you cant do anything can you?
Did you know if an offer is Out of stock in TEsco ie a BOGOF you can go to the CS desk and ask for a rain check vouchers.......allows you to receive the promo when the stock is back in...To be able under all circumstances to practice five things constitutes perfect virtue; these five things are gravity, generosity of soul, sincerity, earnestness and kindness.0 -

The land you stand on when in tescos is Private property, it is not public land, and as such Tescos can forbid such an activity as photographing without prior permission.
There may well be something within Tescos T&C which explicitly forbids the taking of photographs by customers and those who access their land, and may indeed be a breach of confidence or contract by taking photos. It's BOUGHT (to Buy), not BROUGHT (to bring) AND you cannot be frauded, only DEfrauded.
Please do not buy animals from a pet store. Visit your local sanctuary or centre and give a good home to an unloved or abandoned animal.0 -

As already explained the DVD display boxes are used to save on shelf space as well as removing the need to put actual boxes out saving them from getting damaged. Its a good system, every day the relevent department should reconcile stock and display cases to ensure that the number of display cases matches the number of items in stock.
The trouble comes when you get checkouts involved. When someone buys something the display case generally gets kept around the tills or CS desk, until someone decides to go and put stuff back. And they have this great habit of just shoving the display cases back on the shelf without giving it a second thought. Thats where the trouble starts as you have display cases on sale for products that don't exist.
Unfortunately this leads to situations like yours. The only reasonable resolution is to refund the customer. It might not be ideal but Tesco don't have a system in place for reserving stock or taking payment in advance. For example everyone who was involved at the time could have been informed that you had paid and they needed to keep one for you and that would be fine. However, when the XBox comes into stock in 3 days time it may well be a whole different load of staff and the chances of that information being passsed down the line are remote.
Would you really have been happy handing over £200+ and walking out with nothing on the chance that person A has told person B to tell person C that when XBox's are back in stock person D needs to save one for you?
I know its not ideal, but the system isn't in place for pre-orders or reserves, so theres not much you could have done. However as pointed out if the item was on offer but not in stock you can request a Price Promise voucher (Raincheck) that means you can have the item at offer price when the promotion has ended.0 -
Sounds fair to me.
OMG did I just agree with Tesco's. :beer:0 -
