Firstly, make a note of date/time of day/Names of Customer Service Assistants

Then phone HQ and report it, get the name and extension number/direct line (if poss) of the person you speak to. Relate your full story and then tell him whilst you where debating this you read the sign about their policy and threw that at the sales assistants. Be firm but polite. See what he says. IF no joy, threaten you will call in the local trading standards to see what they would make of false advertising to dupe the customer. I'm sorry but I'm not 100% sure, but this is what I would do in your circumstances. :)
    HTH

    Complaints regarding false advertising should be made to the Advertising Standards Agency the overcharging can be dealt with by Trading Standards, the poor customer service will be ignored by Tesco as they will write you off as a freeloader not worthy of their time {but they will empathise strongly with you and agree that it is not acceptable practice}

My first R&R today(!) and thank you all for the helpful posts regarding the misprices. Just got back with the coffee and lemon sole - have to try to work out how to cook it now. The CS woman said the coffee has gone up in price and removed the label straight away. She also tried to just refund me by saying the fish was prepackaged and when the price change they couldn't change the package label in store - and what did she expect me to do about it?! Yes, the haddock is mispriced too but I didn't want to push my luck as I've got a face people don't seem to forget easily (in a nice way though)

Healthy Living chicken breasts...pack of 2...SEL price £9.44 kg and pack price £9.81 kg. Got 6 chicken breasts and full R&R of £7.87!! CS lady not very happy tho...said people like me cost Tesco millions every year. can't understand that as its their policy to refund if they overcharge you.....and it was only my first R&R!! made me feel really guilty
It's not people like you that cost Tesco millions, it's people like HER who let the mistakes happen and get away with it as most people don't check! Don't put up with this sort of bull!!!!! Tell her to do her work properly and save the millions!

    Good for Fathers Day.

Collins complete DIY manual. Stickered £9.97, SEL and scans at £12.97

Cheers John, I managed to bag one of these today. Waited until late in the day to avoid the cs staff who I normally deal with, nice young lad offered me the £3 difference until I offered my innocent "but when I've been overcharged at this store before ..." and got full r&r no problem.

Collins Complete Manual of DIY - a brilliant book
    SEL £12.97
    Sticker £9.97
    Charged £12.97
    Easy R&R

CS removed the SEL, but left several of the books with the £9.97 stickers on, so these should still go through at £12.97

Got another of these today at Bradford Canal Road. An excellent Father's Day present I think!

My wife got the Pavlovas tonight. I can confirm that the Rasberry bought with a strawberry doesn't work! Full refund.
I went back later and picked up a Nokia 6111 in pink. £149.97 refunded!
Look out for the "more remote" cardboard stands with phones on!
Do not speak- unless it improves on silence.

Yesterday I tried my first R & R on a samsung d500 that was offered as having £20 off if spending over £40 in store. However, the £20 wasn't taken off so off I went to CS desk where they offered me the £20 difference, at which point I mentioned their policy on being overcharged. She got another CS assisant who finally got a manager (as my partner who had left me to deal with it had got peed off with them trying to fob me off and was not going to accept anything but a full refund!)
Their first argument was that the shelf price said £149.97 and that was what we had been charged even though I said it also had a price of £129.97 which is what we should have been charged. She said she had checked the shelf before she came to the CS desk and there was no SEL with the cheaper price which she seemed happy to prove to us. When we back to the phones there was no SEL and yet all the other phones in the offer did have one. She then said that it was an operator error as she should have applied the £20 discount and their policy did not cover operator error! I said I had still been overcharged and that the policy should apply. She said we could have a full refund but give the phone back or have the £20 which she kept waving under our noses at which point my partner asked for the address of HO to complain to as he wasn't going to accept the £20. She asked for my name, address and phone no. I thought for someone to get in touch but then she handed over their customer service address and telephone no. and kept my details-? All this time she kept trying to get us to take the £20 anyway which OH wouldn't do as he said if we did we'd have no chance of getting a refund!

I felt I was right to get a full refund and keep the phone but this manager was not going to budge and neither was my OH!

Should we have just taken the £20 or should I ring customer services and try and get the full amount refunded?

Ok can you expand a bit on the phone R&R please. I went in today and saw one for £149.97 poster said I would get a further £20 off if I spent more than £40 in store - now my shopping before bogof's and multibuys was more than £40 but less than £40 after the deductions therefore I didn't get a discount. I argued this but to no avail, where do I stand? and how did you get a refund on yours???
