got told 0ff by store manager for looking and checking my till recipt before leaving the store and then going to the c.s desk to complain what else are u suposed to do. told they will watch me every time i enter the store. no scanners r in this store.

Store manager has no right to tell you off. you have been over charged, Should have told him you were disgusted with his attitude and that you will write a letter of complaint about him.
Watch you?? Why ?? you havent done any thing wrong !!!

Don't feel guilty - Tescos can afford it!

Its not a case of if they can afford it or not.
If they have this full R&R policy you would expect they do more to make sure they are legal in terms of price checking. As every time they over charge you they are breaking they law, so only right they give you compensation in terms of the product free.

Should have told the CS to stop her moaning, as if their staff were doing their jobs properly they wouldnt need to do R&R's. Their fault not yours

Wow!! I cant believe how many MSE's are from around Coventry! Maybe we should start a club! Or go hunting in packs in Cross Point! I am definately not brave enough to try another r+R now I have read all your comments! Good job OH is though! He is well up for the challenge, bless him! After chomping our lovely free chicken today he is talking about popping into Cannon Park Tescos tomorrow! :T

Does anyone know if the CS staff do actually receive training regarding the Refund Policy? Why do some act so dumb about it - maybe it was something that was covered on their day off .

I should think i am not the only one getting tired of the lies and gobbldeygook excuses to get out of giving a refund. I think i have heard them all several times over . This week i have been told i couldnt have a refund as it was only last week that they told me i was abusing the policy . It must be about 3 months since i was in that store and i have never seen that bloke in my life before nor had any refund from them. Utter twaddle.

Excerpt from Tesco r&r staff training:

    Never offer r&r
Should the customer make reference to r&r first establish whether security on site? If yes proceed to hurl insults at customer until such time they become animated and have them ejected from store not before parading them before instore cameras for mugshot and rifling through handbag for id and pictures of any family

If no security on site simply mutter something along the lines of "So what s**t job they don't pay me nuff enyway" and cough up on the spot

It is not considered good practice to bait customers but in the instance of R&R it is deemed sport.

NEVER remove sel they are put there for a reason and your wages and very existence depend upon us robbing as many suckers a day as is possible.

    Here endeth the lesson

PS any refunds will be deducted from your wages and we'll be sending the heavies round your parents house!

    Yes it is!

I used to be drawn to value stuff - my family have never eaten so much good stuff - go for it - be polite - you won't get banned if you don't take the mick - good luck.

    Duder

That's not strictly true - most people who have been banned don't seem to have taken the mick at all as far as I can tell. It all seems to depends on teh store/member of staff as to whether you are likely to get banned or not - the more a store tries to wriggle out of giving you your money and the ruder they are then the more chance of getting banned.

However, there's little chance of you getting banned anywhere in the 1st couple of visits. Also Tesco isn't exactly the best supermarket around, so unless yours is especially convenient then well worth taking the risk.

Tesco scams customers and has very many suspect practices. By spotting misprices you are stoping others from getting ripped off and you're also helping to reduce tesco's vast profits very slightly. Everyone wins when you find a misprice (other than Tesco's that is). Go for ti and good luck

How are you stopping others from being ripped off?

When you report a misprice to the CS and accompany them to the item on the shelf they remove the offending SEL (most times) which means that all other shoppers only have the price on the pack to go by and decide whether to buy the product or not based on that price

Also you are assuming that the price on the pack, which is higher, is the wrong one. It is just as likely that the SEL is wrong

Do not get me wrong I do not work for Tesco and I am not trying to defend them but most people only seem to see one side of the question

The free Lemon Soles are lovely by the way;)

By law (IIRC), the higher price is always the wrong one...ie it doesn't matter if it's pack or SEL.I think I understand what you're saying...eg the promotion has ended and Tesco intends that the price should be X (as on the pack) and so the SEL (lower price) is 'wrong'......unfortunately that's not how it works.

I know you said most times, and you know its not always the case but this answer might also help someone else who just posted to see the other side so to speak :)

Here is another example, as I bought some Lamb joint with rosemary in a tin foil the other day, I picked up the last one on the shelf just after some other lady got one as well. Now I saw the SEL saying it was £3.99, and the price printed on the packet said £1 off now only £3.99, but I was still charged by the tesco computer at £4.98 because thats what they have decided to charge for them now. I saw it and went to the CS desk for my refund all the time looking out for this other lady somewhere around so I could point it out to her too .... but I never saw her again. I know I got my meat free, so tesco lost out on the price they had paid for that meat on this occasion (note they didnt loose out on the £4.98 they refunded me, only on the cost they paid for the meat which was probably £2.00 or maybe £3.00 or so at a wild guess). At the same time they overcharged that lady £1.00, and since there are about 6 or 8 foils in a box and there were 2 empty boxes on the shelves, I wonder if they actually managed to sell between 11 and 15 of those at the incorrect price without anyone else noticing (thats a potential £11-£15 profit based on charging the wrong price. On the other hand, maybe other MSE'ers been there and got their refund but no one went to fix the price on the computer because its just easier to over charge and refund when someone notices. I know in my case they didnt bother to do anything about it, no one from FMC called out as they do with other meat misprices, no one from the meat area called to look at it, and as I walked away i looked back for a few moments and the lady at the CS desk was already serving the next person at the desk without any further actions to that little misprice. Now I am sure by logging that refund on her system, scanning the item in and logging the price I was charged versus the price it scanned at, at some point that will get corrected.... but there and then on that day in that store, I know someone else walked out being overcharged and I still couldnt see them about to tell them....... just a little pause for thought to consider when a CS person says how tesco are loosing millions to people who check their receipts and claim their refund in line with the price promise so prominently displayed.

Oh and for those who think the CS desk have forgotten about the R and R policy when they offer the difference back, no they havent forgotten anything. I have been told by at least 4 different CS people in different stores now that they are instructed by the managers to offer the difference in the first instance, because a lot of people dont know of the Price Promise and dont read the signs and just accept it and are happy with that. I always act innocently and say thats amazing, and thanks for the kind offer but I think I will have the full refund please and they happily oblige with the under £20 transactions without any further ado. Over £20 they have to get a manager to authorise it and then you are back to the possibility of being offered the difference, a query as to why you might want more than one PSP game, blah blah ...

Also those coming behind have the benefit of making their buying decision based on the actual price they will be charged at the till and not the mythical one on the shelf edge label
