Sorry but to me, making the cats go without food for days is clearly cruel. They appear to be totally dependent on her as their freedom is heavily restricted so she has to be totally responsible. A lack of money does not stop her approaching re-homing organisations and even if I did think of her as a friend (which I'd struggle with) I'd have to put the cats first and make a call to the RSPCA.

I agree with Sacre1, the cats would have a much better life elsewhere.

Hi I have three cats two of which are petite. Mine have one to two cans food per day and always access to dried food.It depends on the cat how much they will eat.
Its cruel not to have someone to feed the cats whilst she is away. Id report her to the RSPCA.

It costs me a pound for three tins of quality cat food and six pounds for a huge bag of whiskers dried food. So thats less than a pound per day to feed mine. The dried food lasts over a month. No excuses for not feeding her cats.

My cat has 2 pouches a day and dried food with plenty of water.
So yes your friend's cats are indeed underfed!
regardless of the fact she is your friend i think an anonymous call to the RSPCA is in need!
If you would prefer perhaps wait until she is staying with you and make the call then, knowing that no one is feeding the poor animals.
However that may be too late..

I have dry food out all the time, both downstairs and upstairs, and I have a water fountain! This is really handy as if I have to work long days I know they are OK, plus sometimes my routine is all over the place I don't want them expect meals at certain times.

What is these "biscuits" that some of you speak of? Can you get cat biscuits? I think my boys would like them!

Cat biscuits is what dry (complementary) cat food used to be known as. I still tend to call it cat biscuits!

i leave about 60-70 grams of dry food out in the morning for my two siamese boys, there is usually some (not much) left when I get in at 7pm. i then give them the remainder 60-70gms at around 8pm. this seems to satiate them.

i think we have a tendency to overfeed our pets...i know i did before i started measuring out their food. they will eat what you give them, at one point my siamese weighed 6.5kgs, the vet told me off and he now weighs just over 5kgs.

Right!!! I thought maybe they had fancy food for cats! I use dry food but mine is complete. Just means when they DO get wet food it is a treat for them, like kids eating McDonalds.
