Well last night was lovely. F-F is a fabby lady and we had a grand night out. Movie was good, getting darker year on year which is good. Place was packed which actually is good news as we're all meant to be bankrupt and disease ridden.
So hopefully more trips to come.
Oh and for F_F ...
Enjoy :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::A Let us be grateful to people who make us happy: they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom. Marcel Proust :A0 -
Little story to share.
Jim the Sparky (who's not been on hols yet) came round today to do the new sockets and light fitting for the new office. All was going well until he went to do the light because the fitting from B&Q was broken in the box. Ho hum part of life's rich tapestry etc etc you say except the fitting had already been out of the box and returned to B&Q.
According to Jim they do this all the time, Argos as well, as people then bring them back and pick up something else in store, a form of desperation driven footfall or the customer decides stuff it and don't bother so the store has shifted a dodgy item.
Well I thought this sounded a bit unlikely, I could be a trainee nun somedays, and went back up to B&Q. Electrician's on the clock at our house 10 miles away. Got duty manager and pointed out problem and fact this was already returned by someone else and was very obviously broken not a change of mind. 20 mile round trip and spark on the clock. He offered me a replacement and half the money refunded.
I said "No. You very deliberately did this knowing full well you were selling defective goods."
He then offered me two alternatives, all my money back and a replacement or a replacement and I could bill B&Q for additional electrician's time plus my mileage.
I took the cash in hand (all of £10) because the second option was to much hassle for the amounts involved but the two lessons are:- Never take a box that looks like it's been opened in B&Q without checking everything is ok inside.
- Know you can get a full refund and replacement or claim compensation for tradesmen's time plus mileage if you really are left in the lurch by this idiotic policy.

I was reared on a diet of musicals and still think there are leprechauns and rainbows and flying monkeys out there. And to be perfectly honest, I'm quite happy in my wee world and with regular medication and chocolate I'm not even considered a threat to the community anymore.

I read that as diet of muscles first off and was going to correct you on your spelling of mussels:rotfl:. Takes more than chocolate to keep us sane round here:pThe person who moves a mountain begins by carrying small stones.

Well I posted a poll on the main thread because my dad had given me a gift of £1000 to spend on whatever I want - it's going on the renovations. When I got home there was actually only £880 in the bank wrapper so my dilemma was did I tell him or keep quiet.
Most people found it a horrible situation which at least comforted me that I wasn't being too daft. Consensus of 81% was to tell him which I did tonight, mainly because he took £4k out and I was concerned all the bundles were light. He took it really well and thanked me for telling him. He agreed it was the right thing to do because he wanted to check the rest of the money (he never checks it at the bank).
So MSE rocks...and made a rotten situation a little easier. I'm so happy he didn't take it the wrong way. :T:T:T
Had to buy 5 new keys for properties today, they're always being lost or new locks being out in, so £27 for that little bundle. One lot of 3 was for someone who took my spare set to get duplicates cut but only bothered getting one (the flat and stair need 3). She's being using the intercom to get in and leavong the door half locked cos she didn't want to pay for the others. Her social worker phoned to ask me to do it. So I've done it and she'll get a bill for £16 - I didn't lose them!
Ex-trashed flat got a new tenant today so hopefully it'll be happier now and learn to love the new girl. I'm happy it's fit for human habitation again...it does look nice now the black walls and 6 foot crucifix are gone.
Braille poker tonight. Broke even and acquired a £2 coin for nellyphant...hardly seeing any of them at the moment. At this rate I'll be able to buy wrapping paper minus the presents at Christmas. :rotfl::A Let us be grateful to people who make us happy: they are the charming gardeners who make our souls blossom. Good grief woman, your "bucket" posts always make me feel tired and unproductive :rotfl::o
While I remember, people I would recommend you see at the festival are:- Mark Thomas (Big recommendation this one, I love this man!) He does political-style comedy but is still hilarious. He's a little podgy man trying to make the world better one step at a time and I have had a crush on him for years. One of those odd crushes, like I have on the bloke from Grand Designs
- Dylan Moran (If there are still tickets left) He's hilarious too and not too "visual" for Mr KissJen
- Jimmy Carr might be a good one too - he's all about the one-liners and less about the visual comedy

Hmmmm... must pick up a fringe guide and actually decide on some things to see at the fringe... I've challenged myself to see 4 things this year rather than the normal 1, maybe 2 (but only cause its my birthday during the festival!). I normally do a fine impression of a grumpy local at festival time
but should actually do something more than just propping up the bar in the Spiegelgarden!
:rotfl: Thats apparently not there this year - it's changed to Underbelly's Hullabaloo whatever that is...
