hi,
i uninstalled my belkin wireless adaptor in order to re-install it to see if it was the reason my connection was playing up (we have run out of ideas as to whats wrong).
only i (stupidly) didn't realise i don't still have the installation cd it came with. tbh i didn't even install it the first time round so am not even sure what it came with.
anyone able to help ?
i can check which belkin adaptor it is later on.

back again.
i have an issue, in that i do not know what version of the belkin wireless g card i have. i am not able to see it without taking the pc apart and i'm not good with stuff like that.
have tried to be clever and do system scans with different programmes, but each one just tells me the name of the card, not the version.
am i going to have to get someone to take the pc apart ?:grouphug:

is there no part number on the card0

i assume so, but actually seeing it is the problem. i'd need to remove other parts to see it, and this is where my capabilities let me down !:grouphug:

Ok, assuming you're on XP or Vista, do the following:
Start -> Right Click: My Computer -> Manage
Device Manager
The device should show up as an unknown device with a yellow ! symbol, or it may show up as an ethernet controller with a yellow ! symbol.
Right click on the device, go to properties, then click the details tab
There should be a drop down menu labelled "Property", set this to Hardware IDs
You should then see one or more lines like this:
PCI\VEN_1234&DEV_5678&OTHER_RANDOM_STUFF
It's the numbers after the VEN_ and DEV_ that we're interested in. These are known as the Vendor ID and the Device ID. Once you have those, post them here.0 -
thanks a lot for that, in one of my attempts to solve this i had been on that page but not used the dropdown list.
i will see what i can do with this info and report back:grouphug:

Are you sure about that? They should both be 4 digit numbers, they may also contain the letters A-F0
