    does anyone know - if a pre-tax monthly pay packet is going to be £640 at the end of this month, pension is 5% and the tax code is 253L, is take home of around £520 correct??????

    40% tax? 364/month take home? i think im wrong.. sure your tax code isnt 153L ? 486/month at 20%

    no, it's 253L .................40% tax - I wish :rotfl:

    I'm paying last years AQA tax through my PAYE which is why I don't have a 'normal' tax code. It works out to be 20% plus around £65 per month.

    £486?? sigh............just keep swimming, just keep swimming.........
