I think we have had the grand total of about five weeks without the heating on for some part of the day this year

And I have a lovely log fire on tonight

Another week and Im sure the heating will be on for longer and the stoves lit more often

Had our stove fired up on two occasions last week, whats the point of feeling cold, fire stove up, wood can always be replenished.

Have we had a summer? Has been warm, just plenty cloud and rain as usual, excellent conditions for the scottish midge while oot touring in camper!!!

Another 'global warming summer' as promised us by the Met Office!

Stove alight here last week, too - though it's been quite warm in the Sarf for the past three nights.

So far since Friday I have had log burner one once this month and CH another. I am trying to conserve what wood we have as I got really stung last year on heating so didnt build much credit for this Winter coming unlike other years

I got lots of wood saved up which I got 6 weeks back a truck load but it soon goes once I have log burner on and shall not have much left come March

I can take some cold by daughter and OH have medical condition that makes them prone to the cold
  • Hi does anyone have a wood burner in their modern house?

I have a 7yr old house with a gas fire, i'd much prefer a wood burner as i miss having an open fire so much.

Problem is its a terrace town house & i only have a shallow chimney, i suppose for the gas outlet? that goes to a funnel on the roof.

Does anyone know if this could be changed to a wood burner? or do you think its a waste of time & i should wait until i get my forever home?
