MONEY MORAL DILEMMA. Would you give up a £50 train seat for a pregnant woman?

What has stood out for me throughout this thread is that for many of you, your lives appear to be well planned and unexpected situations just dont happen, therefore there are no allowances to be made for anyone else..........and that your concern for your finances take precedence over your desire to show manners and humanity.
Your Mothers must be so proud.
You've assumed the original question mentioned the pregnant woman had to travel unexpectedly, and replied on that basis. Would you have answered the same if the woman could have pre-booked her seat if she'd wanted?
There could always be the assumption on the pregnant woman's behalf that it wasn't worth booking a seat because she could shame someone else into giving up their seat for them0 -
And where exactly did I make that assumption about disabilities?? It was suggested that I was making an assumption about another posters disability when I've only spoken about pregnant women!!
Seriously, if you are going to respond on behalf of someone then please make sure that you have read and understand the previous related comments!
What's even worse is that some people seem to think that this women should basically be punished by being forced to stand up for not pre-booking!
Bit OTT isn't it? I was chipping into the general conversation, not picking an argument with you :rotfl:
Nobody in this thread has said the woman should be punished, either :rotfl:0 -
No I would not give up my seat. The pregnant woman should of pre booked her seat as she knew the train would be full.0

I would give a pregnant woman the seat but dont expect me to enjoy the experience. Pregnant women should not travel on public transport. The fella who got her in that state should be driving her about or atleast pay for a taxi.0

I asked with regards to a comment made by someone else about my comment:
"And where exactly did I make that assumption about disabilities??"
and you responded with:
"I'd guess it's on the assumption that not all disabilities are evident by just looking at the person?"
You have directly responded to my question about my so called assumption!! If it was general conversation then don't reply to my post.Tiger_greeneyes wrote: »Nobody in this thread has said the woman should be punished, either :rotfl:
:wall:
You've clearly not read the thread then!
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.html?p=21516109&postcount=206The only way she's gonna learn a lesson from this is to stand up for the 5 hours.. ain't life a b1tch!
And the general response from those who are saying that they wouldn't (and not for disability reasons!) give up their seat as she hadn't booked. I'm sorry if you disagree but that's allowing her to suffer for not doing something. i.e. punishing her!0 -
I've got to say, I'm thoroughly confused.
WHAT THE *&£^ is PRE-BOOKING???
To book a service implies that it is arranged in advance. Just like pre-warning, it's impossible to book (or warn) after the fact. It's not possible to make a pre-booking, it's a booking. It's not possible to give a pre-warning, it's a warning. The ONLY time I can envisage a pre-booking being anything other than a poor use of language is in the case of a pre-booking checklist (to be undertaken before a booking takes place), or some other procedure intended to be complete before making a booking.

Eh??? So, if they don't drive the should be house bound? At what stage should they not be allowed to go on public transport? When they get a positve test? 1 month, 2 months, 8 months? The fella who got her in that state should be driving her about or atleast pay for a taxi.
That state?? !!!!!!! Surely it's just as much her fault as his fault?
Perhaps she used a sperm donor!! :rotfl:0 -

Are you saying that your husband would fight with a man who is assisting a woman in need. A bit low isnt it?
And btw your husbands tall, doesnt mean he can fight, ive seen larger men go down on one punch.0 -

Eh heavily pregnant surely means almost due. I think at that point its time to get maternity leave and prepare for the arrival.
Well yes It take two to tango but the woman is the one carry the baby, Its only right that the man assists in some way or another.
And if she used a sperm donor then she should have friends/family around to help, if not shes rediculously stupid.
And by that state, i mean as in the state of being pregnant, I'm not saying it with an attitude, Babies are wonderful0
