ebay now force sellers to offer free postage on dvd's so i've no doubt other sellers will be doing this in the dvd catagory too. To be fair to him if he stated he would add this charge in the listing then you can't realy complain too much as when you bid/buy on ebay it means you have read and agree to the sellers terms and conditions.

It might be against ebay policy to do this but if you bought the item with the intention of exploiting this fact to get the item cheaper then you're just abusing the system as much as he is in my opinion...

i mean, if he wont agree to drop the charge what are you going to do? neg him i suspect, for adding a charge he told you would be added in listing, sorry but i think negative feedback should be reserved for scammers, fraudsters and generally more serious issued such as non delivery, not expecting you to obide by the terms and conditions you agreed to when bidding.
    well said

but then again, what are you to do when the mighty ebay's rules override all others, regardless *sigh*

Personal gain - such as surcharging after the listing ends?.

He stated the additional cost in the listing and he is suppossed to make a personal gain from the sale BECAUSE HE IS THE SELLER!! ...

The seller the OP is mentioning is blatantly rule breaking and deceiving buyers - buyers who could potentially be spending money with ME in the future.

Rule breaking - yes, deceiving the buyer - no

If he states it in the listing it can hardly be classed a deceit.

If some scutter wants to rip them off, or give them an "unsatisfactory ebay experience", then they will be less likely to spend money with me in the future..

    Now who's whining...

The T&C's are set by eBay, NOT the seller. Quite a few people seem to be unaware of this, then whinge and whine when they get stung for non-compliance or selelr non-performance. Again, ebay is better off without these types.

Not strictly true, ebay rules are set by ebay and nothing more. any business will have it's own T&Cs and they are legally binding to both parties when a sale is made so long as they are within the law.

Therefore one could argue that it is wrong of ebay to dictate to people what their T&Cs should be.

If you are so proud of your ebay knowledge then share your ebay ID, and we'll put it to the test.

You really are monumentally clueless. Sorry if that offends you, but I do not think I need to waste any more time or bandwidth trying to explain why, and I very much doubt you have anything further of value or significance to say.

    Welcome to my IL.

It can also be used as a warning for other buyers to heed.?!

yes about scammers, fraudsters and non delivery, not sellers that won't give you money off after the sale.

You really do have an awful lot to learn about eBay? It's rather obvious that you have not been using it long, and do not understand how it all works.?!

i'm getting sick of hearing this retort from the pro ebay brigade when i say something they don't agree with, for the hundredth time, i am an ex pro ebay seller, used to make in excess of £1,000 per week profits, did so consistently for around 3 years, i, like thousands of others left after the changes to the system that opened up sellers to fraud and after being told i had to offer paypal on my listings which i had stopped doing after taking them to the small claims court 3 times in three years to remove illegal account freezes.
I used the money i had made to start an business away fro ebay and have more experience in ebay and paypal related issues than most people.

    so patronise someone else please.

The only thing that offends me is your arogance to think i care about your opinion and that you are in a position to judge me.

I think it worth remembering what MSE is here for. This is not a site that promotes breaking rules on a company, in fact there are companies now that have taken exception to threads and are no longer able to be discussed pending further investigation by the team.

There appears to be people that still misunderstand how ebay actually works and I think it always worth correcting any misunderstandings in case we have new users who may think that rule breaking is the norm.

Ebay have rules , whether or not we approve of them is immaterial, they are ebay rules on ebay. Suggesting that completely flouting them is both naive and inpractical for nayone who wants to remain selling.

By all means break the rules if you are comfortable with that, however posts that advocate rule breaking will be 'hidden' and referred to the team for permanent removal.

If users are really unhappy with ebay then it is probably best not to use it, just walk away and leave it and find another way to make a profit.

    .

MSE, unless i am mistaken, is here to promote conumer rights and money saving however i'm sure saving money by feedback blackmailing small sellers to issue part refunds after purchase is not really what they had in mind.

I also do not promote rule breaking, by the same token i'm not going to police ebay myself, any issues they have are between them and the seller concerned.

What i am against and think we should be careful of is advising people to pounce on rule breakers and exploit them via feedback blackmail, as this constitutes a scam and we should not advise scamming on this site.

What's up with "stay clear and report" as opposed to "buy and exploit"??

Gosh this is getting a bit heated!

I just wanted to state, in case it wasn't clear to anyone, that eBay forces you to list free p&p when selling dvds as the ONLY postage option you can choose.

Now this means if you're selling a dvd on ebay you're bound to make a loss on it - I'm not surprised some sellers are trying to add on p&p after the fact.

Now if they state they'll add p&p afterwards in their listing and you still bid - isn't that what you were accepting by bidding?

Don't necessarily think of the seller as scamming - seems they have been pretty clear.. but I'm not the most knowledgeable on the rules etc.

So ebay insists that sellers must only have the option of free Postage, but its ok for a seller to put in the listing that they are going to add postage on????
