budget - i'm not sure really, anything up to about £250 if it was something expensive - we're going to vegas in the week of his birthday.(courtesy of Tesco vouchers) I did a driving experience for him before and the company we went with were pants and it cost me over £200 for something like 3 laps on a circuit with other people in different cars on the same lap and OH being told to slow down to let others pass because the car he was in was quite old and couldnt handle very well. What made it worse was this 'super car' had Peugeot Wheels on it and when i complained i never heard anything back.
I think i'll do something like get him and his friends to go paintballing as a surprise or similar. He says the best fun he's ever had was on his stag do - paintballing was fun he said - you should have seen his bruises.
But i think i will do the box of things - anything to do with cars he loves - i've bought him car cleaning stuff every Xmas - he 'doesn't do' the cheap stuff. I might just keep the old bottles and fil them with cheap stuff. Wonder if he'd notice....
My brother did a helicopter lesson once and enjoyed it but not sure if he'd like that.
OOh just noticed you'd put rally lesson. That is it... He's always said he'd love to have a go at it. Thank you (Off on the hunt now)
I do the usuals for Xmas for him - clothes, toiletries, aftershave, pants, socks, slippers, car stuff.... He's so hard to buy for - i give him a list of stuff for me - not for all the things but so he can choose something that i want. I'd told him 3 years straight what perfume i wanted, each Xmas day a random bottle would be there. This time he told me he was going shopping so i wrote it on his hand and i finally got it. :-)
Hope u dont mind me being cheeky - heres the link for the Rally School

I can highly recommend them, dad did his 4x4 with them, and his Rally experience, there really helpful.
Wow, Vegas, ur so lucky, thats one of the things on my "40 list", xxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -

I have done a tally up of all my incomings for my christmas for free challenge, and i have more than i thought, this has all been earnt through cashback sites, surveys, vouchers from goldfish card (at least the debt got me something), taking old nintendo ds games to Game and getting money for them, saving the working tax credit that we get etc etc etc.0

rachelkate wrote: »Rufusd!!!2 - what types of things have you got for OH's 30th? My OH is 30 in Feb and thought that's a good idea but it would prove rather tricky. When i was doing well in my career planned to buy him a motorbike and out him thru intensive course, then got made redundant and i'm on about 1/4 of the salary, oh well...
Also, anyone care to throw in some ideas - OH loves cars, doesn't like reading, loves music, not a DIY person but loves his drill and is genuinely difficult to buy for.... Help?
Hi Rachelkate, I bought a lot of dvds like the sets with 3 or 4 dvds in a pack, I used Amazon vouchers for them. Other things I got were some bits for the year he was born like a mag out in 1979, Beano or Dandy book (cant remember which I got) set of coins etc. I also bought a 12 x 12 scrapbook with about 20 pages so 40 sides and did one page for each year. I found photos of him and his family and me and my family for each year and also found pics of things that happened in the news for those years too and pics of tv progs, songs that were hits etc and stuck them all in. Then he still has some pages to fill in for the next few years too.
the rest of the presents are just small bits and pieces to make up the 30 like socks and pants, couple of tshirts, Lynx, that kind of thing. I started doing the book before his birthday last year lol and even had a few presents by then too so it didnt seem to cost so much in one go.
Good luck if you do this xx0 -
can anyone reccomend me a good but reasonably priced guillotine or paper trimmer? I really cant cut straight
have ventured into the attic today and pulled all my boxes out and suprised myself that ive got a bit more than i originally thought.
So I now have 4/10 birthdays completed
2/3 other occasions completed
unfortunately 2/18 people finished for xmas
but at least im getting somewhere
Rachelkate i also did a box of 30 presents for my hubby in december last year, I bought him a new mobile then nothing else was really over £5. CD from 1978 football programme for his team nearest to his birthdate and loads of silly little bits too. Last year home bargains had a pack of cards with things you should have done before you were 30. But in typical bloke style his fav pressie was a Grumpy t shirt from Asda:rotfl: If hes into movies theres loads in the sales on play.com and hmv.
:j
bye for now
