    Xmas Saver!
pipsmum - u do realise your leading me astray, I loved all those chocolates, the pick and mix, the sweetie necklace and yes I'm showing my age, the lipstick sweet, I use to love them.

I've just thought those Winnie The Pooh jars would look fab with sweets in for xmas.....

Rufusd!!!2 - I cant believe how organised you are, I havent got the patience to knit designs on jumpers, then again, after knitting so many scarves, the knitting needles are hiding in cupboard.

Rachelkate - sounds like ur going great guns with the recipies, I love the hamper idea, I do a small tray for 2 eldery neighbours, put mug, mini jars of jam, mini xmas pud, shortbread biscuits and mini scotch, the one neighbour, we were on about xmas, he piped up I love ur xmas goodies cant wait for this yr. You can make them as cheap or as dear as you want.

mhagster - did u mention strawberries + cream..... hope ur shareing them with ur virtual friends.

    .................................................

Had a nice surprise tonight, went to book dds birthday party, hire sports hall, inc 2 staff doing the games etc, then get 3/4 hr on bouncy castle. All in £45.00 and best bit...... dad paid for it, as a thank you for paying his credit card bill, - did balance transfer off mine, hes paying gets 5.94% life of balance compared to 22%. xx
xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx

    Good morning everyone!
Yes it's Friday again, but our school holidays start today....yeah! Kids finish at 1pm for 7 weeks of sunshine (well I can hope!!)

I conquered my ironing last night! My husband woke me up when he came to bed and told me about Michael Jackson. He was a brilliant musician for all his quirkiness.

mum2one; you are welcome to a pot of virtual jam once it's made.......need to think what to do with all that cream though!

    have a lovely day everyone

Nothing to do with saving money, buying gifts at all. This is just me needed to say something on michael Jackson, I don't own many of his songs but I know them very well, they are all being played on the radio and I am happily singing along while trying not to cry, just because I didn't purchase his music doesn't mean to say that I am not a fan. I feel extremely sad, I have been saying to my husband for a few years that michael Jackson doing a huge comeback tour would be amazing, and that it would knock all the other comeback tours into the water, I was really looking forward to reading the write ups from the tour he was due to
start. My 7 year old daughter adores music, dancing and acting, so much so that she goes to stagecoach theatre school every weekend, she loves her music, yet she doesn't know who michael Jackson is, I feel that it is my duty to introduce her to his music and his dancing, whatever went on personally, no one can deny what a star he was. Sorry for going off topic, I just needed to say something.

    Morning All

Didnt get much time yesterday to do anything, and I'm very dissapointed with myself. Still 6 months today it will all be over and we will have all been really smug, everything will have been just perfect and we will all be thinking right lets begin for Xmas 2010.

I've got a list of jobs as long as my arm still to get through, got to go into Ashton shopping later and then the kids School fair tonight so another busy day.

Sad news about Micheal Jackson..May he RIP.

Hope you all have a great Friday.

    Catch you later

Rufusd!!!2 - what types of things have you got for OH's 30th? My OH is 30 in Feb and thought that's a good idea but it would prove rather tricky. When i was doing well in my career planned to buy him a motorbike and out him thru intensive course, then got made redundant and i'm on about 1/4 of the salary, oh well...
Also, anyone care to throw in some ideas - OH loves cars, doesn't like reading, loves music, not a DIY person but loves his drill and is genuinely difficult to buy for.... Help?

Dont be daft about going off topic, thats what the threads for, I'm always going off on a tangent, (posh word for me).
Totally agree re his music, and his tour would of been amazing, the way I look at life, if we all likes the same / thought the same life would be boring.

You take care, hope dd has a good time with her danceing etc at the weekend, its dds last night at Ballet tonight till Sept, they all get their medals tonight and its open evening for parents, where they do a quick dance for us, so exicted, were taking my aunt + uncle with us, (long story but she class them nanna + granddad,) then treat tomorrow for pictures and McDonalds, mainly because I think if she stayed in all day, hit her re loseing our dog, last night was the first night we didnt have hystericals at bedtime. So fingers crossed shes accepting it.

(told you i'm always babbling) xx

You say he loves car, I dont know what ur budget is, but last yr 4 dads 70th, we paid for him to have a 2hr rally experience, think is was £79. The trick is dont book through Argos, or Virgin vouchers etc, as there the choose ur venue etc, you pay for the pleasure.

I booked direct with the company that did the rally drive, the one we had 2 hr experience, but you could up to all day £200+

What about a 30 box, doesnt have to be xpensive, what does he like,
for a man Id do things like

    keyring
mini toilettires - boots or superdrug
    pr socks (got to)
    small bottle wine
if he drinks a mini bottle of whisky or whatever
    30 badge

Again depending on ur budget, what weve done for dad,
trial lesson light aircraft -£60 +
Ballon flight (used local company) £140
Know Virgin had some offers, cheaper slots weekday mornings, more expensive at weekends
    Off road 4 x 4 experience £100
    Rally lesson - £79

If you give us an idea of budget and what he likes / dislikes sure we can all come up with suggestions x
xx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx

    thanks mum2one

budget - i'm not sure really, anything up to about £250 if it was something expensive - we're going to vegas in the week of his birthday.(courtesy of Tesco vouchers) I did a driving experience for him before and the company we went with were pants and it cost me over £200 for something like 3 laps on a circuit with other people in different cars on the same lap and OH being told to slow down to let others pass because the car he was in was quite old and couldnt handle very well. What made it worse was this 'super car' had Peugeot Wheels on it and when i complained i never heard anything back.
I think i'll do something like get him and his friends to go paintballing as a surprise or similar. He says the best fun he's ever had was on his stag do - paintballing was fun he said - you should have seen his bruises.
But i think i will do the box of things - anything to do with cars he loves - i've bought him car cleaning stuff every Xmas - he 'doesn't do' the cheap stuff. I might just keep the old bottles and fil them with cheap stuff. Wonder if he'd notice....
My brother did a helicopter lesson once and enjoyed it but not sure if he'd like that.

OOh just noticed you'd put rally lesson. That is it... He's always said he'd love to have a go at it. Thank you (Off on the hunt now)

I do the usuals for Xmas for him - clothes, toiletries, aftershave, pants, socks, slippers, car stuff.... He's so hard to buy for - i give him a list of stuff for me - not for all the things but so he can choose something that i want. I'd told him 3 years straight what perfume i wanted, each Xmas day a random bottle would be there. This time he told me he was going shopping so i wrote it on his hand and i finally got it. :-)
