    Hi all,

Took me ages to find the thread, thought it had disappeared. Nearly traumatised :D Change of name instead.

Mel, I know you don't want a reply, but just want to wish you all the best for the coming year, will miss talking folders and notebooks with you and thanks for making me feel very welcome.

Christmas recipes - that's a good idea as it's something I wanted to concentrate on in future years - cutting down on crafts, handmade cards etc and trying new recipes.
Actually in Somerfield mag for July there is a recipe for muffins that a young girl made up after eating Stollen at Christmas.

I've also got a recipe to make individual Stollen's inside tiny metal buckets, not really sure why that really appeals to me.

Tomorrow I'll come up with a list of recipes I'd want to try out.

    Hi everyone,

I am quite a lurker - i love reading and getting ideas from everyone on things to do.

My friend's getting married in December and have thought i'd make her a sort of recipe book/note book where i'd start off and put some in there, presented nicely with her favourite foods and then leave room for her to put in some things of her own. The problem is i'm not quite sure what type of book to get to start it - i want something where i can add things such as pretty paper but also keep the book tidy so can anyone suggest a type of book that'd be suitable. I was thinking more along an A5 / A4 size but could really do with some inspiration and help?

Just a thought, but what about a normal A4 ring binder, you should be able to decorate the front, even something simple as her name on front.

Inside use coloured paper, the writing on the paper in a nice font, nice colour and laminate the paper, then the recipe can be pulled out of the file and its not going to get torn.

I know it sounds basic, but its useable and can be added to x

    Hi rachelkate,

That's a really good idea for your friend. Have you considered one of those special recipe folders where there are special sleeves to add printed recipes from magazines or handwritten ones. So each sleeve could have a lot of recipes, and would leave plenty of room for her to add her own.

Hope no one minds if I make a suggestion re Rudolph day - a follow on from Mels Post
(I'm just trying to keep busy).

Just thinking its been 6 months, since we started planning for xmas and all celebrations throughout the year and one way or another we have all been able to help, support, assist each other, and learnt new ideas etc.

As Mel had already suggested for May's Rudolph day was to get your "Organised Xmas file ready and documents etc printed off".

This Rudolph Day (sadly Mels last):(:(:xmastree::xmassign::xmassmile:snow_laug:santa2::snow_grin
Expanding on from Mels Rudolph challenge, I was thinking, we all have our favourite tip / tried and tested method / fav reciepe that may of been passed down or created urself, and I thought it would be good to share them.
    xx

    Christmas carrots

    carrots
    white wine
orange juice or use cheap bottle bucks fizz

Cut your carrots into what ever shape you want, matchsticks, circles with the centre out.

    Instead of water,

Put carrots in saucepan, add orange juice to cover the carrots, good splash white wine, bring to the boil, and simmer gently, 10 mins or so..... depends on if you want a crunch or a soft carrot.

The orange juice complements the carrots and makes them sweeter, the wine gives them a kick

    Happy Rudolp Day everyone

I know you said no replys Mel but just wanted to say Thanks for being such a wonderful friend, and I completely understand how you feel, you enjoy every minute of your kids, they grow up so fast and become so independent. You take care and don't forget us honey, we will never forgrt you and all your hard work and kind words. Take care of yourself honey.

Love the Recipie Idea, and love the sound of the carrots mum2one, still not printed any sheets of for my file but I have put divider in, so think the first one is going to be RECIPIES. I never try anything new at Christmas I tend to go for the tried and tested simple route so I can enjoy my dad with my familiy, so trying new things now so you know how to do them is a great idea, saves on disasters and time wasted on the big day.

rachelkate - Hi & Welcome if you have a Homebargins near you I noticed a really nice Recipie Journal in there earlier this week, had pages to write recipies, hints & tips etc.. little wallet folders at the back that you could put cut out recipies, it was one of those thing you could buy and use and then pass down through your family it looked really nice and think it was only £4.99

Right I've got to go and do a few jobs before my meeting this afternoon, catch you all in a bit

Morning everyone, Thank you for your suggestions. I am quite a newbie to this - i've been a lurker but that's about it. I need to sort out my office properly before embarking on starting everything but i'd like to have everything ready for that point. I'll pop into HB today or tomorrow - we have 2 in our town and into Asda. She's very girly so i'll need to find something that'd suit her. I hadn't thought of a ringbinder but i might keep a lookout for a nice one and i have access to a laminator. My head is going to sink with all these decisions, lol.
