  • Just to let anyone who read my posts on page 154 and 156 that I got my voucher today from the comp I won in Glamour and they and the promoters were very helpful in the end. Just goes to show that if you're polite but firm it does work to gee these people up.

Marcandhay - I really feel for you, there was no need for the website to state that on their website how petty and unprofessional. I think you have every right to go to the ISP and you should, they've almost made it personal by writing what they did on their website and you have every right to be upset. Considering they say they know about this forum and they will how many people use it they haven't exactly done themselves any self-promotion favours by being so petty have they, it will put the hundreds of people who use this forum using them for things other than competitions for a start. They've definitely stuck in my mind as a website to avoid based on your experience. Hope you get some resolution from this silly and avoidable (from their end not yours) situation.

    Thanks MamZi.

Its funny I lost some pics & music but I wasn't botherd about that but was gutted my passwords went :rotfl: It says for a years subscription on the website so I just assumed you pay every year, but if its a one off then I wouldn't mind paying the £20.

I will look for the back up option. Thanks
Ahhhh, you had me intrigued then reading that it said a years subscription, I can't find that anywhere yet....

But I have checked the main website, and it looks like Roboform is now offering a FREE additional online version to roboform users, which will sync all passwords and can be used on multiple pcs. You get free back up, can access your passwords from other pcs, and get to download GoodSync for free.

I am tempted myself, but just want to see what you all think about the pros and cons of storing our passwords online, they do say that its all encrypted with our master password.

I think I'm going to ask this on the Techy board as well, and get their views also.
My light may be on, but that doesn't always mean I am looking at the PC - I am far more likely to be cuddling or feeding Tianna atm, so please don't think I am ignoring you if I don't reply quickly :)

Our Precious Baby Tianna has now joined our Family, she is much loved and very welcome, xxx

    Hello Mamzie,

It was a long time ago I read that because it was when I first had the free version then when that was up I had a look to see how much it would cost. So were talking about this time last year :D.

Please let us know what the Techy Board says

Hello all,Thankyou for all your support,i did send the company another e-mail later that evening...this is what i wrote-

    Hello Again,
I forwarded the below e-mail to the forum website that i mentioned in my previous e-mail to you and i have been advised that i should contact the Institute of Sales Promotions.
If i do not recieve an adequate reply within 24 hours as i believe the excuse i was given was not acceptable as i live in a mid terraced house off a main road from a large town and 2 weeks after winning your competition a fire engine managed to pull father christmas in his sleigh down my road so i cannot understand how my house can be in accessible to a postman who would be posting 4 small batteries to my property.
If the reason was because of adverse snow conditions then i think you should at least honour the prize as this was not my fault.
I appreciate that the prize is only batteries but at the end of the day,i entered your competition in good faith and i believe this should be recipricated by yourselves.
    Many Thanks

I didn't think it was too pushy but obviously it must have been.i'm really annoyed and embarrassed at the way they have handled this matter.I don't really know what else to say.

    Hello marcandhay,

I never entered the BatteryForce competition so I do not know what it entailed. Did it involve any expenditure on your part? If not I would have been tempted to let the loss of this prize go. I think it was referrred to as FREE batteries and as such bearing in mind the number of entrants who did receive their prizes this must have been a fairly generous competition.

Apart from the batteries what have you actually lost over this?

When I got my copy of Roboform, cost me about £12, (that was because of good exchange rate against the dollar) I can't remember why but it was cheaper to pay for it with my card in dollars rather than £'s.

Regarding the Battery Force promotion, if they had followed there own guidlines in there T&C's for items which are purchased from there site none of the unpleasantness would have happened
    9) In the rare case that an order we have sent to you is lost in transit, we will replace or refund the lost items at your preference, provided you cooperate fully with our efforts to claim for the loss from third parties. This may involve you having to complete forms and/or sign statements of non-receipt of goods.
I personally think that it wasn't the complaint that resulted in the draw being closed but the fact that it has come to there attention that there draw wasn't entirely legal by not following the guideliines set out in competiton law

in there defence I would say that maybe it wasn't entirely ethical of marcandhay to reproduce there email (which incidently looks like it was put together by a junior office clerk) on a public forum and that they where probably hugely embarrased by this,

howether after saying this I find there message on the competition entry page both offensive and extremely petty (was the junior office clerk also responsible for this?) I think not
    http://www.battery-force.co.uk/promotion.html?via=aw744

I myself have won the prize draw on numerous occasions in the past and have received the batteries promptly, and I have as a result of entering the giveaway and winning ordered all of my batteries from the company, howether as the above has been brought to my attention, I will in future be ordering my batteries from elsewhere as I feel that the company has acted irresponsibly and I can no longer support them

in there own words a very "sad state of affairs" indeed

addendum: marcandhay there is no need to feel guilty about the loss of the giveaway as you where right to chase the prize up, (they should have re-sent your competition prize) I myself would have done the same under the circumstances, as I feel that a prize no matter how small should be honoured as a matter of principle

    Best of Luck

    Or :

When reading these forums BatteryForce may have come to realise that it was just the same old people entering their competition over and over again ( and winning over and over again ).

So in terms of market penetration maybe the competition was not as successful as BatteryForce first thought.

In other words the competition had had it's day!
  • this is possibly the wrong place for asking this but i dont knwo where else to ask so :S

movie monkies have a bunch of dvd email entry comps...i cant find them on here for looking but im sure they must be here somewhere or else there is a reason why they are not? have i missed something?
