Some people seem to have got the wrong idea that this was somehow going to be a fire sale. It was always about a birthday celebration and the goods on sale were commemorative items to mark the occasion. It was a bit of fun and a chance to make a bit for charity.

Can't understand all the bickering...and to accuse someone of fraud for selling an item on Ebay is OTT if not downright libellous.

I think this was just a publicity stunt, my M & S was so crowded and the queue to get in was at least 75yds long! This was at 910am today. When I asked an assistant about it, even she said it was all just a con!

of course its a publicity stunt! whats wrong with that?
this is probably the only time a bargain has come up and i havent gone for it, knowing i would have to go with a pushchair and jostle with a load of miserable car booters and ebay sellers really put me off.
why can't people just be happy to get something for almost nothing? and for a good cause.
its great that m&s did something a little different, and i may even dig out the baby carrier for tomorrow!

I agree. :) And there's another kind MSE'r on this site (and thread) who has done the very same thing for me. My 'local' M&S is a 50 mile round trip away and I wouldn't have a hope of getting anything as I have a daughter to get off to primary school and so by the time I finally got there, everything would be done.

I casually mentioned that I would have liked to get such and such and next thing I knew, she pm'd me to say she'd got me one.

In amongst all the argy bargy you see on here sometimes, it's easy to forget there are really kind people around too.

Did everyone who was first in the queue on Wednesday get a voucher For £50?
  • I know it's the last day tomorrow BUT what people don't seem to have realised is the 'pennies' that are collected from this sale go to charity 100%. It would be nice if people were to perhaps put a bit more in the collecting box. In our local area it's a local hospice that will be benefiting and to see people putting 5p into a charity box for 5 really nice items seems a bit mean. Brian

I have been ill this week but I am hoping to get to my local store tommorow. My stores charity is the local Stroke Support group. My BIL had a severe stroke 7 years ago and is now disabled so I for one will give a bit more than 1p. I too agree what a good community MSE is. Someone on here spotted the electric blanket I wanted in Boots and immediatly bought it for me and posted it straight away. Happy shopping!
