its the only phone I want because the HTC hero has the MS 6.5 OS which I gather is a bit clumsy <----no it doesn't. It runs Google Android.

Haven't seen any set deals for the Xperia X10 yet though to answer your question

Hi, I upgraded my Orange phone this morning. I'm not one for haggling but I thought I'd give it a go.
I wanted a HTC hero and was originally quoted over £100 pounds to upgrade, remaining on my current contract, 100 texts and 300 mins for £20 a month. I told them that I knew I could get a better deal elsewhere and I was put through to the disconections team who offered me the HTC Hero for free, 100 mins, unlimited texts, unlimited internet, 18 mth contract and still only £20 a month.
Very easy and got what I wanted. Must haggle more often. Thanks for the tips.

Hi, Does anybody think i would be able to get a better deal than im currently on...I have a £30 p/m with Orange and k810 with free broadband at home and im out of contract. I would like to get the iphone but with orange its only free on the older model.

I am an 02 CPW customer. In 2007 I bought an N95 on 12 Mth Contract for £40 p/m.

In 2008 I 'Upgraded' by keeping my N95 phone and agreeing to a 24 Mth Contract £5 p/m which included:
- 600 Mins
- 1000 Txt
- 1MB data

I've now asked to renew my contract and the best I am getting is:
- 600 Mins
- Unlimited Texts
- Unlimited Internet/data
For £20 p/m on 12mth contract.

My thoughts now are that:

- This is the standard deal online for a Sim only deal + Bolt on so I'm not saving anything as a loyal customer.

- They only offer a great deal once and after that they try to revert to normal deals again to make money out of you.

I would like some advice now from any one reading this thread on what they could suggest I do to try to get a good deal. What have other people experinced who have already tried to renew with 02 CPW a second or third time as every one gets a good deal the first time around but what about second or third time?

Shop around and see what you would like. Call Orange and tell them what your looking for in terms of:

- New phone
- Mins / Texts / Mobile Internet required
- Home BB for free etc...

See what orange offer you. Then get back to them.

Give 02 a call - as a new customer they'll fall over themselves to have you and offer you a new phone tariff and 02 Broadband.

Make a decision on the best deal.

Then call back Orange and disconnect or haggle further for a better deal and say 02 have offered XYZ to try to get a better deal.

Its a bit long winded but hey you gota get the best deal you can.

Same thing with me, first contract with a phone then "upgraded" to sim only 5quid 600mins. My contract ends today but 02 Carphonewarehouse not giving me anything better. It seems after being retained once you dont get a better deal.
What do I do next?

I have been with Orange for over 10 years and my monthly fee just went up by £20PM as contract ended, I was put through to 'disconnections' and they told me they could do nothing and asked me if I was happy to be disconnected, their North Tyneside call centre is a shambles, they are very rude. Anyway, searching for a new supplier after all these years now

Your probably rang up with the a*se, or you dont know how to negotiate. All customer service centres are trained the same way.

E.g i know how to haggle i just got offered:

free white sony ericcson xperia x10 (RRP £510)
1200 mins
unlimited texts
500mb internet
discount abroad addon
5 photo messages a month
and a free 16gb microsd

For a mere £28.50 per month on an 18 month contract lol. I urge people to try and beat that (i use 1200 minutes so i needed at least that)
