I think I waited about 2 months for the card to be sent and none was forthcoming after many phone calls so I just started using my Citibank account again.

Thanks again for all your help. I may pop off to bed soon; if so I will check the thread tomorrow morning

Could you do me a letter and have my bank give me free money? :A

Oh.. if you owe the government money, can the statue barred thing still be enforced? Is it possible to have governmental debt written off?

:rotfl: I wish I could get myself some 'free' money whatever that is!

Nope, sorry government debts such as social loans will always be due. But if its a while ago and you've not been flagged for it then just keep shtum.

That's a shame. Another family member recently got a letter, saying she was overpaid on child support payments from a decade ago. They are demanding she repay £6000, which I find rediculous since it is the governments mistake for overpaying, not hers.

Its for a Barclays current account. The default amount was for £272. The debt was passed to Cabot who sent me a letter. I replied and came up with a monthly repayment of £10pm. They then slapped me with a default on Experian and Equifax date back to May 2007

are you paying £10 pm and when did you last make this payment....?

Ok, if it was 10 years ago then thats different. This can be appealed and written off.

Personally, go post the story over in benefits board as there are actual JC+ staff in there and other specialists....... Have a look at these links:

so how long have you been paying and what was the amount of debt when you started paying? My lord - i'm actually lost for words.... how long (how many payments have you made?) have you been paying?

    This changes things mate

    1. What was the debt when you agreed to pay £10 per month?
    2. Are you being charged still or is it frozen rate and deducts by £10 pm?
    3. Tell me details - you're going to be refunded all this so I need to know the full details mate!
