Its for a Barclays current account. The default amount was for £272. The debt was passed to Cabot who sent me a letter. I replied and came up with a monthly repayment of £10pm. They then slapped me with a default on Experian and Equifax date back to May 20070

So it was a bank account with overdraft? did you actually exceed the overdraft or did you get lots of charges?
Have you ever requested a CCA?
Have you applied for financial hardship to reclaim charges?
When did you last use the account and can you describe events leading up to you getting the default, i.e. were you in communication with Barclays or did you ignore them?
Have you ever received a default notice and termination letter and notice of assignment letter?
Did cabot or barclays add the default?
Who is the debt owner, Cabot or BC?
cheers mate2010 - year of the troll

there was no overdraft. i was going to switch to barclays but they never sent out a debit card. they switched one dd (tv licence) and they paid that even though i had no overdraft
never applied for cca
never applied for financial hardship
barclays sent me letters but I ignored them as in "i am not going to pay those charged when you shouldnt have paid the dd" i moved house and then i started getting letters from cabot
Have you ever received a default notice and termination letter and notice of assignment letter? NO
Cabot added the default to my files0 -
Let me get this right, this all happened as a result of one missed DD during an account switching process? So how much was the DD they paid and is the difference all charges then?
You know what i'm about to say, they are breach of the Banking Code and will remove this default - whether they like it or not!
Just confirm the above mate - looking good so far :-)2010 - year of the troll

Please, tell me you're kidding?
Ok, all I need is a brief outline of dates matey, so give an idea as to the date you applied to switch, the date the DD came out, the date you cancelled the account etc - so I can do a nice little letter to them.
By the way, you cannot - I repeat louder - you cannot speak to these guys on the phone again, if they ring you simply say please write to me and put the phone down. It is imperitive you listen to this advice!
Can you also confirm when you moved addresses and the name of the bank you switched from and the DD payee.
We'll be transferring ownership back to Barclays here as well so be prepared for them to start writing to you.

Oh God. I'm not sure on dates as it was over 2 years ago. The DD payee was TV Licensing, the bank I was switching from was Citibank and I moved house in June 08.
I phoned them to close the account as they wouldn't send a debit card out even though they said they would. I think I applied for the switch in August 07 but I'm not too sure and the direct debit would have come out in September.
I do have another default only on Equifax. It is from First Trust Bank. It was for an overdraft I had on an account. I forgot all about it, didn't credit the account so they closed it, passed it onto a DCA and defaulted me. I settled it though a while back.0 -

Ok, i'll sort you a letter to send make sure you send it though! Don't worry if there are a couple of discrepancies, its normal being i'm pretending to be you but won't matter as the facts are the same.
How long did you wait for a debit card before closing the account, or walking away from the account should I say?
I'll post letter before midnight so check back yea? They will remove the default and send you something as way of apology, just wait and see matey :-)2010 - year of the troll
