HSBC dumping Maestro would leave NatWest alone in issuing Maestro/Solo. I doubt it would happen, tbh.
I just don't believe that site that they will be leaving maestro. it really needs to be verified elsewhere.

More reports saying that HSBC is planning to leaving the Maestro network and switching to Visa debit cards here, here and here..

    Regards

This is great news! I've been waiting for this day! Maestro just don't cut it when you need to use it at shops abroad (USA/Asia/NZ etc). Having a Visa debit card would be much better for me as I travel a lot.

"HSBC's decision to force Visa debit cards on its UK customers will cost traders an extra £25 million a year in charges, said the British Retail Consortium (BRC)."

I've just asked this question on Internet Banking. They should reply me soon. I'll come back here with their message when it arrive.

HSBC are looking to start phasing the Visa cards in towards the end of 2008. Many new Maestro cards that are been issued have a very short expiry time, due to new Visa cards replacing.
