Any idea if First Direct offer £250 Cheque Cards?

All you need to do is ring 08457 404 404. The web chat people you spoke to have no dealings with service issues.
Personally I can't see why it matters what the cheque guarantee limit is - use Maestro, much easier0 -
I have spoken to them about it, but all they want to do it do an apllicaiton. I just want information!!!!0

What is it that you want to know though? They have already confirmed that a card is available with a 250 limit and you dont have to upgrade to another account to get it.0
-
i.e things like,
1) Is there a minimum salary requirement?
2) Do you need a minimum internal score?? (i.e to upgrade for a solo debit card to a maestro debit card you need a score of 40)
3) Is the application credit checked?
4) Do you need to hold certain products for a offer to be issued on your account??0 -
Not being funny, but just ring telebanking and ask them. Really your main concern would be the credit check I assume.
So just ring and ask. Not difficult.0 -
I am just curious ...
Why would anybody need a £250 cheque guarantee card nowadays? I don't remember when I used my card to guarantee a cheque. I only use cheques to send by mail somewhere and AFAIK they cannot be guaranteed in this case.0 -

My folks have stalls at various trade shows, where goods are sold to consumers. The amounts vary from £1 to £200+. When people pay by cheque, they require a cheque guarantee card.
Also when paying cheques at shops (I'm sure people still do that, but probably not that many) I think the guarantee cards are required."An eye for an eye leaves the whole world blind" - Mahatma Gandhi0 -
Dear Miss Xxxx
Thank you for your e-message dated 19 March 2006.
Please be advised that we will consider requests for a Maestro Card against a number of criteria. We do require that regular funds of at least GBP300.00 are mandated to your account on a monthly basis.
We would be pleased to consider a further request in three months providing your account operates satisfactorily in the meantime.
I trust this clarifies matters.
Yours sincerely
