Sure, we all get the point credit cards and debit cards are not secure without an SSL environment. We worked that out on page one of this thread tell us something we don't know.

I was under the impression this was becoming an speling and grammar forum !!!

I know I should leave this alone :D but maybe if juedrop had come here with less of an attitude then he/she wouldn't have got the response that they did? I honestly think that had a lot to do with the replies that were got. :) Just a thought.

Ha ha....he's tried to delete his post. Now it's here to stay. :)
  • This is my first post *Waves Nervously* :hello:

I understand it doesn't look good with this website not having an SSL environment but even so I did go on the website and order a dongle. (It seemed like a too good opportunity to miss)

After seeing all the negative responses regarding the site on here I decided to call up and speak to someone (for my own piece of mind) and got told my order had been received, was being processed and I should receive it in the next few days.

If you have already purchased a dongle but are worrying about the security of your card details or if this is a legit company or not I would recommend calling them and speaking to them (they seem very friendly) and keeping an eye on your credit card statements. (But try not to panic too much...)

If you have not purchased due to the SSL environment issue or the fear of this not being a legit offer then that’s understandable...Hopefully in the next few days (or better yet hours) 3dongle4free.co.uk will prove itself to be a great offer, hosted by a secure and reliable company.

Now im going to sit back and look forward to the arrival of my free 3 dongle.:j

Perhaps so, but imo there was just cause for concern (especially at the time of the 1st automated Egg call I got).

Wont be the first time we've seen posts on here where people have been scammed by similar looking offers. Nothing wrong in being wary when it comes your hard earned. I'd rather jump the gun and look silly about it than sit back on my laurels believing everything is ok when my cc account is getting fleeced right left and centre.

To be fair, we're also hardly going to just believe a new poster who tells us he/she spoke to someone and was told everything is ok. For all we know it could either be someone of the 3dongle4free site posting here or the person on the phone could have been telling juedrop all is well whilst he gleeefully scamming his/her card. I accept it's not likely .....but like I say, you cant be too careful. Just because someone says something doesnt make it so. Anyway the concern wasn't really over whether the dongle was going to turn up or not...it was more about what else is going to get charged to your card fraudulently afterwards. A point juedrop seems to have missed.

I bought a small item from PlayTrade a few months back...a week later my card was fraudulently hammered for hundreds.

I also want to add that I dont think someone who makes their first post an insulting one ("you are a bunch of scare mungers") is likely to get much respect anyway.

Actually, I have ordered one and spoken to someone at Micro-P. They confirmed that the offer is genuine and that my order has gone through. Is my post count high enough for you to believe that this conversation took place?

I've just given Micro-P a ring (main no 01282 776776) and it would seem they are planning to make the payment page "more secure" (EEK!).

I asked if the dongle voucher code had a use by date and the chap told me it was valid "indefinitely". I asked if I could pay over the phone – the answer was no.

I got the feeling they were in a bit of a tizzy over the payment page security so I am going to wait a day or so before paying.
