I ordered the dongle late Monday afternoon and it came through my door just 5 minutes ago. Amazing service!

Hi. I am interested in this offer, though am aware of the security problems. But am wondering whether it is what I need.

I simply want something that will allow me to use the internet on my laptop whilst we are away from home. this would be no more than two months a year. It will also be in the UK.

Would this dongle be best for us?

Also how many hours would the £10 allow?

Got mine on Monday, and was able to unlock it. As people have previously said search on ebay for unlock mf627. Works fine. Cheapest I found was £4.50

I used the one with Item number - 250428569968 , just enter that in the ebay search. :)

Well to the first point - this means you would need to spend no more than £20 once you've you've got the dongle - £10 gets you 30 days access

On the second point - TECHNICALLY 720 hours (30 days - 24 hours in a day)

However it's DATA transfer that really matters and once you've used 1Gb (however long it takes) your £10 is spent.
To achieve 720 hours you'd have to use under 1.4 megabytes per hour.

However I presume you do eat, sleep, go to the loo, kiss the wife?, play with the kids? so you're not going to be online 24/7.
If you wnat to send a few emails (prepared OFFLINE) receive a few more, do a bit of googling then GO FOR IT.

The WORST that can happen is you have to spend another £10

This was posted earlier which might help.

Of course you could pay £15 (or £25) to get 3 or 7 times the amount of access

Surely the worst that can happen is no reception, therefore unusable!

Aah...the point of the free access suddenly becomes clear :) If you can connect for free then you should be ok to purchase the broadband add-on.

Why pay to unlock when you can do it for free? Simply use this software (dc-unlocker.com/downloads/open/46) instead of the pre-installed software on the modem, along with the SIM card of your choice. Don't be put off that it says MF622 instead of MF627; they're basically the same modems. Of course, you'd have to enter the network settings manually, but it takes five minutes and they can easily be found on Google. Try searching for 'O2 web settings', for example.

why are people unlocking them? which is the cheapest and best network to run them on?
