FREE Pay As You Go broadband dongle

With no credit it may seem to connect, but will only go to 3's topup page!0

Well bizarrely to back up hunsbury0 claim, I've just installed mine - ensured that my wireless interface is disabled and I can successfully get SkyPE to connect - even IMing another user.
Even more interesting is that I'm making this post using the dongle, and yet I've not even considered a top-up yet.
EDIT - After a short time the software prompted to update itself. I allowed this to happen and had to restart the machine. Even after this restart I'm still able to access SkyPE and the internet without any Top-Up having been done.
EDIT 2 - My3 shows my 'account' as "Standard PAYG MBB", and that it has no free units.

3's home page and Skype are free of charge.0

Sure - but (for example) MSE, Digital Spy, BBC News and QuidCo shouldn't be.
I'm using using my dongle - my wireless is disabled (Dell Laptop with physical switch on the side) and I'm still browsing without being prompted to top-up. The 3Connect apps suggests my usage so far has beem 13Mb.0

ok, here's a theory/question - can the dongle pick up your wireless signal as well as a 3G phone signal. Does the 'free' service continue if you turn the wireless router off?0
-
Yep - Dongle is still allowing (and I'm using it to submit this) access to the intenet without the wireless router switched on.
A Trace Route (tracert) showed anyhow that the connection wasn't going via my wireless router - the IP and DNS server addresses (ipconfig /all) aren't valid for my home setup.0

There have been comments about this on other forums too. Maybe Three provide the free access to enable you to set up your internet connection? The free access gets cut off when the network registers the sim though (within 72 hours). One user reported being cut off after 15Mb.0

it's good marketing though, let you have a taste of the system working to motivate you to use it in the future (since some folks will be too lazy/mean to top up immediately)0

If people use an up to date version of Internet Explorer there should be no problem. All the important parts of the site are secure.
The site is dodgy with Firefox and Opera I would say.
Before you jump to conclusions about security issues I think we'd need to know a bit more about your own secuirty on your machine and what crap is on there. And add to this coincidences of credit card fraud. If you have some real evidence let's see it.
I've used my card on the site as many 1000s of other people have and had no problems except for it being crap to use.
What a ridiculous post. Firefox and Opera follow web standards more closely than Internet Explorer.
I use IE 8. I specifically have only used that card once, on that website. It had never been used before.
The attempts at verification took place on the very same day that I presented the card.
The company(Micro P) made a statement that they would make the site secure on the 13th. I made my order on the 9th.
I connect via ethernet and am double firewalled, via Router and the latest version of ESET Smart Security. Vista fully updated. The problem was with that website. 100%.0

Worked for me aswell, downloaded about 5Mb & it was still working with no topup.Next year we'll be millionaires!0
