Probably best just to read the threads and keep checking daily, and read what people say. Feel free to ask questions, and you'll probably get 10 different people answering the same question - everybody is very willing to help.

You'll find it gets much easier for every job you do, until it becomes completely natural and easy for you. I'd suggest you get a fairly straightforward job for your first visit, while you're not so accustomed to the MS companies' expectations. GAPbuster (GAP) in particular have very straightforward questionnaires - try a mobile phone shop, or an 'underground sandwich' shop.

I'm sure you've probably picked up by now if you've been reading the threads that we usually refer to companies with abbreviations - e.g. RE for Retail Eyes, GAP for GAPbuster, etc. Also, we don't mention client names - this is part of the small print you agree to when you sign up for a MS company. Generally, just be careful about what you say on here, remembering it's a public forum which everyone, including staff at the MS companies and staff at the client's stores, can read.

    What really helpful advice :)

I'm very new to Mystery Shopping as well. I have so far done two phone calls but no actual visits. I can never seem to find any that I can get to in Birmingham. I'm usually pretty limited by only having public transport to the city centre/stations etc though.

Just got this email from TNS re: those bank jobs:

This job has been taken offline today as a large number of fieldworkers
have not followed the instructions in the online brief. The instructions
state that fieldworkers can only make 1 call per bank and that they must
have an existing current account at that bank, and be registered for
telephone banking. If a fieldworker has a qualifying current account at
more than one bank eg N****** & A****, then they can do one phone-call
for each bank up to a maximum of eight banks. Unfortunately we have
come across a number of fieldworkers who have applied to do more than 1 call at the same bank.

I had selected 2 from the same bank, before I realised, and this job has now gone from my visits.

UKMonkey I expect your glut of jobs has gone too. :rotfl:

    Hi Everyone,

Thanks for new thread monkey boy.

Happy to keep sending out my spreadsheet, as I've sent it to about 40 people now - should have copyrighted it :rotfl:

But please when you PM me, you need to send your email address because you can't attach anything to a PM.

Thanks Jdan9 , I am flicking between old and new threads and trying to read and learn everything. I'm making notes this time ! There are quite a few gems of wisdom on here and I am finding it very useful and everyone does seem very helpful.

I have done a few jobs and all gone ok, but I'm trying to work out how to log all paperwork on spreadsheet etc . Thankfully , Josie and Whitelabel have kindly offered to send me a copy of theirs , so I should be able to pick up tips there and hopefully have learnt something else - If not I will be back with questions !

    Thanks again

Is anyone having problems printing GRG briefs? It's printing them at a huge font size and one brief took 30 paes instead of 4

Are you using Firefox? It gives me the opposite problem, turns the font tiny but to landscape so still around 30 pages (I often press print then wander off ).
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

It really annoys me that so many of the mystery shopping companies' websites don't work properly with Firefox

I use Firefox and have to print my GAP assignments off using Safari [Apple based browser on PC] instead. And with RE can't even read an assignment on Firefox. All of the others I have no problems with.
