Should I leave negative feedback?

You only pay fees on the final selling price, not the p&p, so in this case, the seller would have only paid fees on 99p and the listing would have cost him nothing - had he listed it say £2.99 + £2.99 p&p, he would have paid fees for listing, then higher final value fees. From the sound of it, he has listed at the lower price to avoid paying the fees hence fee avoidance - overall he wanted £6 including delivery for the item and that is what he was got.
As stated, you can't neg him as you agreed to the postage costs when bidding, however, you could rate him down on the star ratings and you could make a comment in the feedback to advise other buyers.
At the end of the day, you have to decide if you are happy with the item you bought and what you paid for it.0 -

I dont get that you where happy with the item at the price you paid so surely 1 happy seller and 1 happy buyer = Perfect Ebay Auction
I was happy with the item for 99p!
But I wasn't happy about the postage charge.
I appreciate all the replies. I'm trying to understand things from the seller's point of view. But I think I might be explaining the situation badly - I'm even confused now!
Can I clarify something?
Is it considered ok to use high P+P to increase profit? I've been working from the assumption that it's not.Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far!
Sorry if I don't reply to posts - I'm having MAJOR trouble keeping up these days!

Thanks for the explanation on fee avoidance.
Well the item definitely isn't worth more than £1! It's tiny. It looked far more impressive in the listing. It's definitely not worth what I paid in total! Far from it!
Regarding my agreeing to postage costs when bidding, as I mentioned earlier, the info posted by the seller relating to this was misleading.
My intention was to be fair and only leave negative feedback about the postage and communication. From what you're saying there's a distinction between overall negative feedback and commenting on particular aspects of the transaction. Is that right?Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far!

lol- do you work for ebay?
If no - i dont really care so long as the overall price is good to me - what does it matter?
If yes - i think its disgusting people talking money from ebay after all the good they do to the community0 -

Actually there is nothing stopping you negging him. Feedback is totally up to you if you feel he deserves a neg then you can neg him0 -
Ok, if the item was apparently in Ireland but really on the mainland, then it's not unreasonable to expect they'd have to pay an airmail charge.
They've broken the rules by being misleading about the location - and in conjunction with the elevated postage (which under normal circumstances, would have lead me to say 'tough') I'd say you have a reasonable grievance. My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
I'm going to sleep on it. Will read all your replies with interest - it's helpful to get different viewpoints.
Thanks guys and gals. :T
Edit: It felt good to get this off my chest and I think that's all I needed.
Fcek it, life's too short. I just figured that this poor sod is probably in debt like I am and trying to make a few quid and they might need it more than I do so as my Nana always said "Ara. let them".
I think I just won't leave any feedback at all.Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far!

Did the listing state there was a different postage rate for local postage?
If not then you should have checked that he did local postage rates first, rather than just assuming. Regardless of the item location, the seller specified one postage price, and you agreed to it. So I really don't see where you have cause to complain.Sigless0 -
This is where I think you have a point.NualaBuala wrote: »I couldn't tell from the listing what size the item would be so I hadn't felt initially that 4.99 was excessive.
Yes, you knew what you were paying as others have said, but you didn't know exactly what you were getting for your money iyswim.
Personally, I'd either not leave feedback as I do for most of my slightly unsatisfactory purchases, or a neutral.
If you do leave feedback, then don't forget that when you're filling in the stars, just leaving them blank doesn't count- you have to fill them in to give indications of what you felt about the thing. This is my opinion. There are many others like it but this is mine:kisses2: Fiancee of the "lovely" DaveAshton :kisses2:I am a professional ebay seller. I work hard at my job, I love my job, if you think it's silly that's your problem not mine.
