Should I leave negative feedback?

Hi,
I've never sold anything on Ebay and have only had straightforward purchases up till now so I'd appreciate some advice.
I won an auction, got a small toiletry item at its listed value, 99p. The item location was listed as my town in Ireland but the P+P price displayed said £4.99 to the UK. I figured it would be less to post locally. When I won the item I contacted the seller (about 3 times over 10 days) asking for a total with local P+P. I eventually got a request for payment saying that the item was in fact in the UK. I thought the item location was a bit misleading but I paid up immediately.
The item arrived - it took over a week, usually stuff arrives in 2 -4 days but I didn't mind, it wasn't urgent. I weighed it out of interest and it was 110g. It was a small jiffy bag and according to Royal Mail's website should have cost about £1.30 to send. I'm not sure how much a jiffy bag and tape costs - about 50p? I just can't see how it can warrant a £4.99 charge.
I contacted the seller to say I felt the postage was excessive considering the weight and size of the item and they replied but evaded my point. - they just said I shouldn't have had an issue with paying UK rates as that was the P+P listed. I couldn't tell from the listing what size the item would be so I hadn't felt initially that 4.99 was excessive.
So.... and sorry this is so long-winded but I'm trying to be accurate and fair....
Should I leave negative feedback regarding the P+P?
Thanks!

No.
You knew what the p&p was before you bid and were happy to go ahead with the transaction.
If you're ever unsure again, always message the seller to clear any questions up and NEVER assume anything

presumably you where happy with the price when you bid so no you shouldnt neg them but rate them with a positive unless there as something else wrong0

No, I don't think you would be justified in leaving negative feedback. The seller was quite clear about the cost of his/her postage and packaging charge right from the start, and you chose to bid on his/her item.
The seller has done absolutely nothing wrong apart from charge a high p&p charge, which you chose to pay for.0 -
But is it not right to warn other sellers that they overcharge for P+P? I really think it's excessive. It would put me off using a seller if I read that in their feedback. I have nothing else bad to say apart from the communication was poor.
And I think they misled me by stating that the item location was Ireland and then charging UK P+P. In most of my purchases, the only P+P listed is UK and I end up having to pay more to Ireland (which I expect). But I think it's reasonable to assume that if an item is listed as being in Ireland, that it will be posted from there.
Also, I accepted the P+P in the belief that the size/shape of the item would warrant it - I didn't think it would be to bump up the seller's profit!Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far!

Are they too thick to work out prices themselves?
It's not hard is it. Item + P&P = Total.
Now call me old fashioned but I know that when I'm buying so why drip afterwards?Terms & Conditions Apply0 -
if you really want to you have the option on scoring their p&p charge but dont neg them for it. I guess it was done as fee avoidance but if that hurts ebay all well and good - give them a positive!!
BTW - what item was it?0 -

That seems a bit rude.
Just because you know how much something costs does not mean you know if you are being overcharged. I did not know I that 4.99 was excessive. I trusted that the seller based it on what it would cost to send. I thought using inflated P+P to increase profits was frowned upon. Or is it accepted practice?Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far!

I'd rather not say what it was as it would identify the seller and me. It was a toiletry sample though, you know the kind that are given free from cosmetics counters.
Could you explain the fee avoidance thing? I don't know what that means.
Incidentally, I have given every other transaction 100% positive feedback. I just feel this seller has charged unfairly for postage and that's the kind of thing that buyers like to know about before bidding.Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far!

items 99p or less can be posted for free.
I dont get that you where happy with the item at the price you paid so surely 1 happy seller and 1 happy buyer = Perfect Ebay Auction0 -

The thing is, I don't think they were clear. They listed the item location as being somewhere it's not. The P+P listed was not applicable to where I live. It was based on posting from Ireland to the UK. But I don't live in the UK so I expected to pay the appropriate postage from the item location (Ireland) to where I live (same place). It turned out the item was not where it was supposed to be and was being posted from the UK.
And even assuming that was all crystal clear, it did not reflect the actual cost.Trying to spend less time on MSE so I can get more done ... it's not going great so far!
