    Hurrah to all of those - especially "own teeth" which made me laugh! :rotfl:

    I think you're right about the feeling trapped thing - it's a feeling like if only you didn't have the debt everything would be just hunky dorey - it wouldn't, of course, you'd just find something new to worry about!

    You've forgotten one "up" - all the marvellous supportive people on here who are so encouraging and quick with helpful suggestions! ;)

    Hello kind folks!

    I am over my low day now, although I keep trawling websites for jobs/ new life sort of thing. The "what if's" are still there. What if we could sell the house and start again somewhere else? Australia? New Zealand? Margate?

    It might sound a bit mad, but I am a great believer in keeping all your options open, and approach each day with an open mind. So todays moto is "nothing ruled out, nothing ruled in"

    Had a go at making a ridiculous chocolate cake in a cup in the microwave, but it actually worked!

    I don't even have a front garden...:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

    I can understand totally how you're feeling at the moment.I'm in the same sort of frame of mind at the moment.It can be so draining just thinking about the debt(which is what we tend to do when we've faced up to it).It's a long hard slog but we will get there in the end and one thing for sure is that we'll appreciate our money even more when debtfree.I even understand how you feel about the house needing work doing as I'm in the same boat as you there...I'm saving and doing it bit by bit and just paying the min off the debts at the moment....the balance is hard sometimes but will be worth it in the end.
    You have loads of positives in your life.Have a lovely day xxxxx

    hello lovely peeps :hello:

    I am off work for a week, kids off school, and DH working near to home for a week, so we have a normal family week to look forward to :D

    Work on house coming on a treat, and family all working really hard with us to cut down on labour costs. Aren't they lovely? So I am going to push myself on this one, and strip another room today so lovely DD can tidy up holes in plaster whilst he is here. Then over to me on the decorating. Going for very simple and cheap styles so I can add lovely accessories as and when I see them cheap AND can afford them. Going to put up simple anaglypta (walls not great enough to paint) then mostly have cream with some accent colour in each room but from same pallet of colours, like tan, burnished reds, coffee that sort of thing.

    Had a financial set back yesterday. We miscalculated end of discount period on one of our mortagages and we are having to pay a huge amount more from July than we anticipated. DH was all for just handing keys back and facing consequences. We discussed to death, and I suggested we slept on it. This morning I had a possible solution of where we could shuffle things around. It isn't ideal to "rob Peter to pay Paul", but my question to myself today is

    If we hang on to our property at this difficult time, will we reap the rewards later in life? And if so, how much later in life? Or should we just ditch and enjoy more money in our pockets, live for today? :think:
