    Thanks Shaun,

Didnt manage budget work yesterday as old friend came over for tea. Still, some things are more important. Did manage to paint ceiling in lounge and prime all new woodwork. Strangely it is a great feeling when you use up an old tin of something and throw the empty away. I don't really know why! I suppose it looks better on the walls!

So today will see second coat of paint, and definitely budgets! No "Britain's got talent tonight", so less distractions anyway!

Hi Miss KJ....I like the idea about balancing bad with good.
Sounds like a great idea involving your OH with the budgetting and that way he really gets to understand it.
It looks better as it's one less piece of clutter and hasn't gone to waste.

Yes, I haven warned him that the meetings may have to be weekly at first to get the regime "bedded in" with us all. He hates all this, but it feels much worse when you aren't in control, and that is where he is right now. You know sometimes, just sometimes, I actually enjoy the whole budgetting thingy, when I can feel some progress in both debt reduction and lifestyle. Bit mad eh?

This might sound a bit mad .... but could you maybe try to make the budget meeting fun? Perhaps disappear the kids for a few hours: send them out or to their rooms a bit early. :T

Then each dress up in something ridiculous or themed OR alternate who gives the other a gift OR alternate one of you cooking for the other. The twist being that the present has to cost no more than a quid or be homemade, and the meal has to be two courses yet made out of stuff in the cupboards or again no more than a quid.

Probably not the best examples, but what would work depends on your sense of humour ... :o It could be really silly and childish or a bit naughty as you see fit!!

Today folks, Iam revisiting a book gathering dust on my shelf. "The rules of wealth". I recall reading it a few years ago and not being that impressed, because of lot of it was a bit obvious. But today, after a sleepless night fretting about work (which i am not enjoying at the moment) and money, I have decided that sometimes the obvious staring you in the face is the last thing you consider. So I am going to start with rule number 1, anyone can make money. It is about challenging our own peceptions. So I am going to see if i can "think" my way into a better situation. Results tomorrow!

Been putting off the budget, as I knew we have spent too much over last week or so. However, just done my sums, and it doesn't look too terrible. Had a bad nights sleep last night, and I have decided to stop thinking about work whilst I am off, and anything happening at work this week, will be old news next week when I go back in!

Feeling a little more positive now. And the sun is shining, and I love having my washing blowing on the line! Went for a bike ride with the kids (really not very far) but it was fun buying a can of pop at the shops and drinking it in the park!
Any way , I have read chapter one of the aforementioned book, and I have decided to stop "feeling poor", and decide to be wealthy! Next chapter is about figuring out how wealthy "looks" to me. I am not sure that "wealthy" to me is all that challenging really. Chapter 2 here I come.......
