Hi Folks,

Here goes for a brand new shiny diary. Why? Well we have been persisting around for far two long. Our debts are massive. I mean massive. But we have decentish income. I will sumarise.

1. overspent all married life.

2. got drawn into am "investment" couldnt afford.

3. Borrowed from lovely tusting family to pay for "investment".:o

4. "Investment" went belly up.

5. Couldnt rob Peter to pay Paul any more.

6. LBM, joined DFW. But not real effort.:o

7. DMP:T

8. Properties lost all equity.:o

9. Got promoted:cool:

10.Took control in a scary way. Hard not having what we want.

11. Discovered in a second wave of LBM "what I really want".;)

12. Shiny new diary to track progress and focus thoughts!:D

The technical details.

Not going to count mortages (yes plural) will save that for stage 2 and 3, and then my MFW quest.

Here are the bite sized pieces, well if you have a big mouth.

Nasty west £21,981

Northern Rock £15,547

Black horse 1 £7,884

black horse 2 £7,952

Citibank card £5,767

Egg £6,846

Halifax £6,814

Overdraft 1 £2,170

overdraft 2 £1,551

total £76,772. Not including family debts. But this is my starting point. Because of other debts included in my DMP, our DF date is year 2133. Clearly this won't do. So my plan is to maximise as much as I can to save and make offers of full and finals settlements alongside my DMP picking them off one by one. I know we are not meant to do that, should offer pro-rata payments to all, but they will all get their payments back quicker this way using snowballing. I am going to do this as I have a set budget with Payplan for reasonable long term survival. But I am going to save every possible penny. We have had some bits and pieces of extra pay, but apparently unless there is a significant change in circumstances (which there isnt) we don't have to review our budget until 12 months have passed. So we can save extra till then. Then we will try and up our income again. I think I can clear this by August 2011, if they accept less than full amount on full and final offers.

The "have it all bit......."

Well if I am forgoing haircuts and living off smart price etc, I will have some indulgences. And I do mean indulgent, just once. We are planning a holiday in Florida next year. It cant wait, my children are growing up, and I dont feel I will always be able to do this. Now or never. So I am treating it as a practice run and save half, spend half kind of way. If we make it,we will have cleared 2 smaller debts by then. Have a break of a lifetime, then start again with a vengeance.

So watch this space......

Welcome to diary land Miss KJ.

Great first post, love the summary and "clearly this won't do". :rotfl: You sound ever so slightly annoyed and very very determined!

    Expand on "what I want"

I want to be in control. I want to teach my children (and OH) the value of saving before buying. I want to feel again what it is like to pay for something with your own money. I want to remember what it is like to see your savings growing, even if it is just to make an offer. I want to see those letters confirming nil balance owing. I want the best value in everything, in order to learn the true value.

I want my time with my children and OH to be stress free, and have everything to look forward to, not back.

How strange to wake up with thoughts like this before 7 o'clock?

Yes, very naughty - you should not be having a holiday until 2133  Until then, make a tent in the back garden using the washing line and an old sheet, and go camping, DFW stylee.......:D

We do that as well, not joking! although kids are mostly in it with a pile of smelly boys. Yellow patch on grass has just cleared since last "trip" to our garden!

see, you clearly know that your florida trip is un-necessary and un-warranted

Hypno I feel properly told off! Well I am going to see how i get on with saving/paying of first before booking anyway. I won't book unless I have saved as much to repay debts. Is that a compromise?
