Thanks combo81, well I see to have generated some debate on the issue if nothing else. Maybe if I can "have it all" it will show people what is possible. It certainly is a hard target, when combined with my "matched saving"for debt repayments. There are things that can go wrong, but i refuse to give up on this goal YET!
However, I have just checked my bank acount and have made my first mistake in 7 months, some money has taken longer to go in (probably bank holiday is cause) and has caused a debit to be bounced and a charge added, b*****ks. This is a set back and a slippery slope. I need to do some twiddling with money now due to the charge.

You won't get criticism from me - I spend thousands each year on the children's ski training......most will happily tell me I am irresponsible, but I am working extra extra hard to pay for it, and don't fall behind with my debt repayments as a result etc - we are not on a DMP, so we are paying the full contractual interest we signed up for, so as long as we are doing that, I think it is ok.
I know you are on a DMP, but the idea is that having a holiday won't actually change the amount you repay your creditors - it might alter slightly WHEN you pay them, but not how muchAnd if your original plan is to pay them by 2133 (!) then the fact that your intention is to repay them over 100 years quicker has to be factored in, surely!!
There are people on the bankruptcy thread who go bankrupt, then book a foreign holiday - now THAT I would think differently about (rightly or wrongly!).......Successful women can still have their feet on the ground. Thanks guys! Hypno, I take your point about paying the full amount on your contract, and to some, making an offer to pay less is unfair. I am not planning to take the Michael, but on the cc's at least I know they have had more than their money back on my minimum payments for all these years. But to be honest, they have all been very good about it,and so i would feel a little mean not making them decent full and final offers. But not terribly, if they accept that's up to them. Any way, have to save first.
I have decided to try the £10 per day challenge, although I dont yet have a pot of glue how to do it! This would pay for all groceries and my fuel for a month. Which of course is less withdrawals.
Just found some store cupboard ingredients to make this weeks meals go further and recoup my todays bank charges! Pasta bake with smoked sausage, peppers and cheese (was looking a bit lonely in the fridge) and now making pastry for tomorrows meat pie with tin of stewed steak. It is amazing what you can do with an empty fridge!unsecured Debts at [strike]August 2007 £79,984[/strike] September £79,579 [STRIKE]Snowballing date July 2013[/STRIKE].

I know you weren't Hypno, you are far too nice for that! But some peeps do see it as trying to get out of paying what you owe dont they? But I intend to improve the amounts I pay back to them. Fact is if they take me to court, they would still get very small amounts based on reasonable living costs, but if i choose to skrimp and work hard to save lump sums, that is down to me and will benefit my creditors.unsecured Debts at [strike]August 2007 £79,984[/strike] September £79,579 [STRIKE]Snowballing date July 2013[/STRIKE].

phew! What I meant it to say, is that when people have criticised me for spending what I spend on skiing, I know I can justify it because my creditors don't suffer.
So, in the same way, your creditors won't get back any less just because you are also going on holiday, than they would if you stuck to the terms of your original DMP........so you can say to people that it is not actually affecting your creditors in any negative way - in many ways it would be positive because you are not going on holiday until you have saved an equal amount to debt, thereby paying them quicker!

Hello and good luck in your debt free journey.
I know this is not what you will want to read, but re your holiday trip, it truly is a luxury you simply cannot afford, yeah you want your kids to have a fab holiday, but really you can have fab holidays in this country, fab affordable holidays. I think you should ask yourself, would you really enjoy spending thousands on an expensive holiday knowing how much debt you have.
Good luck.

Hi MissKJ,
Sounds like will be a very interesting diary, 2133, wow! I'm sure you will get there long before then and as for the big holiday, it will give you something to focus on and make you more determined to succeed. I booked a big holiday last year before having my LBM, but I am going to enjoy every minute of it whilst chipping away at my debts. Good luck, will subscribe for updates!0
