Apparently we will all have to work till we are 70 to repay the recent government borrowing. That makes me feel bette since I wont finish my current DMP at this rate until I am 164 in 2133.:rotfl:

Hi :cheesy:. Good luck with the mammoth task ahead of you. I like your positive attitude and I'm quite sure you will be debt free before 2133 ;).

Re Florida, I say do it, but you could look at how to make it as low cost as possible, whilst it still being a trip of a lifetime. Eg getting the best value flights, using vouchers for the theme parks, money off vouchers for restaurants. If you've been scrimping and saving every penny for the year before, then whatever you do will seem like luxury. I expect by then you'll be in full money saving mode anyway so I don't even know why I'm suggesting this!

MissKJ welcome aboard the good ship DFW! Well done on the LBM too - must have been a hell of a shock when you first realised how much trouble you were in, but you're obviously facing up to it and looking to work through it as quickly as possible.

Hmmm....164, by my reckoning if you can make it to about 125 you ought to be able to sell your story to The Sun, OK magazine etc, and pay off your debts that way......! :p

Good luck, and I look forward to following your story.

Thank you all you peeps taking the time to look at my diary and giving your support!:D

I will give more detail about figures and how when i am confident I have each lump in my savings account. We all know how things can go pear shaped!

I am going to list my "big Trip" fund seperately and "match save" to make sure I dont prioritise my holiday plans over repaying debts. Although we have goodish income, I still want to learn form you all about the ways of making a bit extra here and there. I bet it all adds up!
I will have a new monthly mini-goal. First one is to re-arrange working shifts so I have a day off every month when kids are in school. This will be a "budget management day" on top of daily tasks to stay on track. I will be doing it as close to payday as possible, as i find i relax a little with money when cash goes in, then panic when I have overspent first week.:o

    Thanks again for listening!

You might find that posting your SOA would be helpfull MissKJ - there might be areas where you can trim your expenditure that you've not thought of but someone else spots......

Actually EssexHebridean, I like your thinking. I have in mind a couple of enquiries re better rates on insurance etc, so it will give me focus to write it down. Sometimes we overlook the obvious.

my goodness, people read them! I was expecting some comments about the big trip being very naughty!

It is VERY naughty. By all means have a holdiay but to me Florida is way over the top. And I mean that in your best interest, for all your good intentions you will most likely add to your debts because of this.

If you dont want to holiday in this country cant you just get a cheap Spanish package?
Total Debt -was £14,700 aprox NOW £13,835
    Paying each month-800-850 (hopefully)
Hope to be debt free about aug 2010
