To ensure the record is accurate, 1st Central (As do most Insurers) provide Third Party Only Cover for driving other cars eg it covers damage to other property or persons but not the car you are driving.
Your post could be miss read that you are covered comprehensive when driving another car.
Another thing to remember is that (as do most Insurers) there will be certain types of policyholder who will not receive driving other cars eg Motor Trade and Taxi Drivers etc0 -
Yep, they are ideal for that scenario. (And assumes he has a wortheless car!)
But...........what about the hassle you would get when a third party's trying to claim off you/your policy!
(There are other cheap insurers, who are bad, but not this bad!)0 -
they were £100 cheaper than other insurers, i have been driving since i was 17 and 2 months and i'm 26 now and never had a claim, car is worth £3000
i do worry about making a claim but all my details are correct and i'll fight the claim battle if it happens0 -
Found them on GoCompare. I took out a policy starting in April. (thought I would do it early) This is day 2 after paying up front. They emailed me asking for my NCB scanned proof. I sent it to them last night. Sent again today. Called them up to check why they said they hadnt received it yet and was pleased to get an answer only after a 2 mins wait.
The lady claimed they hadnt received a scanned copy of it yet then after a look she found it (i assume) but couldnt tell me their decision yet which I thought strange considering I called the NCB line. Well? How long to wait? 2 days it says they take to reply. This is day 1 as I bought the insurance late in the day. What bugs me is she wouldnt say if it was good enough and I have to wait??? Well it is a scanned copy of what they asked, my last NCB from the company before. As they have been around a few years now surely they cannot be that bad? They were cheap. But I dont mind the 700 excess. I am hoping they dont scam me for the 70 fine then withdraw the cover on my car. Maybe they will be on watchdog soon. I hope not. I feel robbed already after reading the negativity about them here. How do they stay in business if they dont care for a repeat custom?0 -
RE 1ST CENTRAL : one to report to the ombudsman, An internet savvy company, happy to quote you middle range quotes and send you online documents BUT OBSTRUCTS CANCELLATIONS. I had emailed them 24 hours into starting my 14 day cooling off period to cancel after realising their conditions were not in keeping with other insurance companies. A simple call to update my no claims status as all nonfault (confirmed by my previous insurance provider after taking the 1st central policy) attracted a £30 pound fee, and then i was noticed £50 cancellation one of the highest in the market etc, I probably spent more than 120 minutes in total over 14 days waiting on the phone to cancel but long waits on customer services - especially before easter bank holiday. Furthermore, just to check if they were any good, tried to check how 'claims' helpline was and never managed to get through! then, because I had to cancel at 14 days 15 hrs (phone delays and non-responses, missed calls etc) they charged £75 extra total cost for the 15 hours ie 14days 15 hrs = £140! So even if you have no claims, they treat you badly, (rude abrupt staff, obviously under trained and understaffed, typical, keeping me on hold to ask colleagues as not sure what to do, no outgoing calls made but could not get into my account to cancel, and kept me paying for my call while we waited for the next 5 minutes even before we could get started or identify my policy) Imagine if you had a claim? really better goign elsewhere , even cheaper companies about, a true mistake trying them out! 0/50

Just be very careful with 1st Central Insurance, I always check my policy wording and as a result there were loads of small mistakes for example, my renewal was a very very good price, no one came close, so I called to renew and mentioned that they had me down as employment being household duties yet underneath it stated I was a sales person, confusing nevertheless I am Self Employed, I would not expect my insurance to jump up to another £200, it also said I purchased the car in 2005 which in fact I purchased 2 yrs ago, I have been insured 2 yrs with these cowboys, but I have had a lucky escape, always check your policy as it seems to me that they adjust small factors to get cheap prices!! If it sounds to good to be true it usually is!0

I am absolutely disgusted by the service that I received from this "insurer". I have had nothing but problems since day one and when I have phoned/ emailed to complain the staff have been unhelpful, discourteous and rude. If you are logged into their pathetic attempt at a website then you have to log out and wait twenty minutes before somebody can access your account. I sent them my NCB proof approximately 6 times before they actually acknowledged receipt and stopped sending me harassing emails threatening to charge me for non-compliance. The final straw for me has been when i phoned to change my name after getting married and was informed I would be charged £30 for the "privilege" as an administration fee. They are complete cowboys. they certainly make up for being a bit cheaper by robbing you at any chance they get. Never again!0

I used quidco compare and the quote I got from them, was £265, which I was very happy with , I did not do a review on google about the company and then went ahead to pay, towards the end they put £50 extra onto the policy taking to £324.
My mistake was I did not chec the scrren proiperly and then paid for it.
After realising the mistake, I check the document and saw the new business set up charge of £50.
Why do they charge this, no other company charges this. I then did the google reviews and was shocked at the customer service complaints.
I decided I wanted out and even if I lose the £50 I rather insure with someone more reputable, So I cancelled today, It did take 20 mins hold time, but the cancellation was done.
From now on I will be wary of cheap quotes and do google reviews before buying, and try to stick to known companies.
I am also not happy with quidco compare - why do they allow compaines like this on their comparision site and if they do the £50 should be included in the price given, not added later on....
