Just like to say thanks to all on this thread. I used Gocompare.com and 1st Central came out £100 cheaper than anyone else. On the basis if its to good to be true etc used good ol Google and found this site. Needless to say I will not be useing 1st Central. Has anyone made gocompare of the issues with 1st Central ??
Best of luck to all.0 -
Welcome to MSE Scanners22, you have already displayed great MSE skills by actually googling the company before you buy.
Have a read of this thread on the delightful 1st Central for other horror stories http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1606417&page=4
Now MSE has saved you from 1st Central have a look around as there are great tips on saving money, forum subjects you may find helpful or could even help by contributing0 -
I wish i had been sensible and googled them before i took up my insurance!!!
I am having a nightmare of a time, someone bumped me, so i phoned up and everything seemed to be going great, they had kinderton on the case, got the car assessed and it got passed back to 1st central, this was when my hassles started!!
I have been promised by numerous people that they would find out what the status of my claim was and get someone to phone me back. I finally lost the rag this week and was phoning on a daily basis to see what the status was.
Finally after one of the call centre people decided it was indeed a joke that i had had to wait 4 weeks to find out why no one contacted me about the claim things finally started moving and he told me all the documentation that i would need to send in, at this point i told him i wanted to complain about the service i had received...then the someone will call you back nonsense started again.
So 2 hours after when someone was meant to phone me i phoned back...got the same person in the call centre and told me "there had been a grave mistake and all i had to do was send in my documentation and everythig would be fine" at this point i kind of lost it again and i eventually got to speak to a supervisor who gave me a lame apology and that was about it.
that was on friday so I will see what this week brings when i post my documentation back in....
I'd stay well clear of this company, they are cheap, but they have awful customer service and you'll spend a fortune trying to get through to them!!:mad:0 -
Chris it is important that you take a copy of the documents you send in and then send them recorded delivery as Insurers have a habit or denying they have received them. I would suggest you then check the status of the recorded delivery letter here http://track.royalmail.com/portal/rm/track?catId=22700601&gear=authentication Once you know the letter has been received leave it 36 hours and give them a ring to confirm they have received it and ask them what they are doing with it.
As Kindertons are involved I assume you were not at fault and they gave you a credit hire car, is this correct ?0 -

yeah i was going to take a copy of everything, there has been conflicts in what i have been told to send in. Motorcare said 3 documents, 1st central have asked for 7.
The case was referred back to 1st central from kindertons since it was deemed a driveable write off, so sadly no hire car.
I also wrote an email of complaint, not that it will make much difference0 -
I got a quote today for car insurance from 1st Central and as always check the forums out there for complaints. Not getting good vibes at all now after reading all this.
One thing tho.. on the quotation page it took me to (after using a comparison site) there is a note at the bottom of the 1st central page that says:
"Finance is provided by Premium Credit Limited, Premium Credit House, 60 East Street, Epsom, Surrey, KT17 1HB. Premium Credit Limited will send to you a regulated credit agreement which will show the minimum credit limit under this arrangement is £1,500, even if your premium is less. If your premium is more, Premium Credit Limited will confirm the amount of the credit limit in your credit agreement."
What are they talking about?! Do they expect me to sign a credit agreement? I am offering to pay in one lump sum for the year. There's no way i want anything to do with signing a legally binding credit agreement?!
Or have i got the wrong end of the stick?Never sign anything!0 -

Final status - for those of you still following this.
I finally got fed up with 1st Central failing to do anything about my claim, so contacted the other party's insurer myself. 10 days later, their cheque has arrived.
1st Central took over 3.5 months to get nowhere.
My 1st Central claim is now cancelled, 1st Central insurance policy is also cancelled (my request) so that I can start accruing NCB with somebody else immediately.
Having cancelled my claim through 1st Central, there has effectively been no claim against their policy. I should therefore be due a refund on the remaining premium which I paid up front.
Anybody want to take a bet on whether they'll issue the refund without a fight?0 -
ok, so this isnt a great company i get that lol. BUT
im about to get my first car, im only getting 3rd Party fire/theft cover anyway, will not be driving another car so dont need cover and the car im buying is worth about 1.5k so any damage i probably wouldnt put a claim in anyway
SO> the price difference between this company and their closest compete tor is around 250quid
its very tempting0
